The accident occured at CZFG = Pukatawagan, MB not CYPM = Pikangikum, ON.

John Fondse, manager of Missinippi Airways, confirmed the aircraft belonged to the company.
"Missinippi Airways will co-operate fully with the Transportation Safety Board inspectors as they determine the cause of the accident," Fondse said in a prepared statement.

Beaver Air Serice does business as Missinippi Airways and according to a TSB spokesman on the radio, the airplane was a C208B manufactured in 2005.
According to T.C. register info this would be C-FMCB.

Narrative: Winnipeg ACC reported that an ELT was reported by Winnipeg FIC to RCC at approximately 2115z. It was determined to be C-FMCB, a 208 Grand Caravan, operated by Beaver Air Services. The aircraft crashed on departure of runway 33 at Pukatawagan. ARFF responded.

O.P.I.: System Safety
Narrative: UPDATE
TSB reports that the Beaver Air Services Cessna 208 Caravan was departing Pukatawagan, MB for The Pas/ Grace Lake. During the takeoff from runway 33, the pilot rejected the takeoff, but the aircraft continued past the end of the runway and into a ravine. A post-crash fire ensued. One passenger was deceased; seven passengers and the pilot sustained minor injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.

Heard a rumour today. Hope there is NO truth to it. It happened on the third takeoff attempt? Flaps? I'm not saying this was the case, but, if an airplane fails to take off, a reason MUST be found before another attempt is made. In the 'van, it's either the weight, or the flaps not being set for takeoff?

Which picture? The one in this thread? I couldn't tell a thing from that? Certainly not flap position? Looks like a Barbecue.

All I am basing that on is the picture in this thread. It *appears* like there is a gap just forward of the trailing edge of what is left of the right wing, which would be consistent with the flaps being down.

Very sad indeed, there have been a lot of accidents with the Cessna 208 since they come on stream

:shock: WOW! That's a harsh step to take. Something must really be 'up' there to get their OC pulled, when other Manitoba companies in pretty much the same boat did not, in the past, lose their OC's..
