Question for B1900D pilots and flight simmers
Hello,
I'm looking at buying a B1900D add-on for my MS flight simulator 2002. Take a look at the screenshots found at the following website and let me know.... Is the cockpit layout accurate? I'd like something as true to life as possible.
http://www.precisionmanuals.com/html/19 ... allery.htm
Do you know of any other add ons for the B1900 that are better? I know theres one out there called "Commuter Pilot" which includes the Dash 8, etc.

I have this plane for FS 2k4. its pretty good. I flew one as F/O as well and it is pretty close as far as performance and numbers go. (Engine sounds are a little wierd but oh well) I wish the one I flew had the Garmin 530 like this one LOL. You can also download some nice paint jobs for it from the same site ie CMA colors and I even found the same one I used to fly in HeliJet colors now (VJU). I found it worth the money.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I logged onto Airliners.net to check out some cockpit photos. The add-on is practically identical. And its only $14.95 USD for the add-on. I think I'll spend the money.
I'll be using it as a procedures trainer so to speak to prep me for the future. And since the performance is pretty true to life, as PJ said, it should be more than adequate.

I think the fire extinguisher lights are correct. But you are missing a couple of ice protection switches down by the Capt's right knee though, it's hard to tell which ones. Come to think of it, maybe it's the two Brake De-ice switches are missing.fire extinguisher lights in the top right hand part of the screen shot should be yellow, yellow, and green (no red).

Yeah the brake de-ice is missing, but the Fire lights are accurate. Another thing to note is that the torque is in % and the Actual torque is in Ft-Lbs X1000. As well you are right about being able to select reverse in flight in the sim (Its not possible to do in the actual aircraft), but I think its an issue with flight simulator as you can select reverse in every jet or turbo-prop in the sim.

What I did is get the Aeroworx King Air 200 and used that panel on the PMDG B1900. It is more advanced, and pretty much every system is modelled. In my opinion, the PMDG panel is just a tweaked version of the B350 that comes with Flight Simulator. The only thing about using the B200 panel with the B1900 is that the torque settings read high. The numbers are correct, but they flash red and the needles are maxed out. As far as handling goes, the 1900 is very good, and the visual model is one of the best around. Enjoy!

As a 1900 pilot and flight simmer, I found the PMG add on to be a waste of money. The big problem with most of the 1900 panels is that the torque gauge is in %, not ft-lbs, which it is in real life.
I used a free panel designed by Matt Laurita for MSFS 2002. It's called b1900pnl.zip and you can get it from any of the sim sites. The problem with it is that the ILS sensing doesn't work in MSFS 2004, so I modified the .cfg panel to use the MSFS King Air EFIS in the place of the EHSI. There is no better or more accurate panel out there. If you want I can post the .cfg file here. It's not perfect as far as power settings go, especially at low power settings, but pretty close.
