Why is it that the 'college' programs always seem to attract giant egos, and then inflate them?

Sorry to hear of anyone left out in the cold because of this. Hopefully the rumours of an end arent true.

Because it is slick marketing that drives their recruiting of new students.

When they are finished they have no idea of how ignorant they are of how to actually fly an airplane because the system is driven by ego and ignorance.

Therefore a lot of them are ego driven and ignorant.

well that makes selkirk college in ycg alot more attractive eh// by the way and this is(only hearsay) the asiain airlines especially china are looking at the history of selkirk training for grads due to the similarity of terrain back there. and the fact that badk in the day pwa took the best grads with 200hrs.

Ok, settle down. Back to discussing Mount Royal, not the qualities of its graduates.

If anyone has a press release saying what's going on, rather than just the rumour mill, now would be the time to post it...

Judging by narks response and that you've smartly edited the post twice leaves me wondering just what sort of nonsense you'd directed at me, but fortunatly for you I was out flying all day, and missed it. So I'll offer up a little piece of advice and I hope you pick up on it. This forum is watched by many chief pilots, operations managers and HR/PR reps. Not to mention many who may in the future be Cp's or even sitting in the left seat next to you. I'm betting your kind words today and in your previous posts have been taken into account by many, other than Nark and myself. So be careful whose toes you step on. One last little pointer, it's incredibly easy to figure out who you are in the real world after posting here on this not so anonymous forum

For the record, I did not say ALL of the college grads or even direct it at MRC. But you sure dont see that sort of attitude from the non-associated flight school and flying club folk. In actuality I know quite a few good, honest, hard working folk that have come through the different college programs. I know quite a few of 'em agree with me on this.

Now back to MRC.. Whats the actual word? Would be nice to see them with some new machines. Those Grummans have been around the pattern..

the only "Rumor" I heard was from a few students currently enrolled who are fairly excited for their new fleet of 172's and their hopes that they get picked to be a part of the group of students and instructors ferrying them back from Kansas next month... Sound like their lease with Peacock was up on the old ones.

As far as the instructors being "fired" for the summer, Last I heard they are still all under 1 year contracts and on salary, same as they have always been.

Apparently MRU is just doing a fleet renewal, which is actually coinciding with Senecas fleet renewal (or Selkirk, one of the S ones). Anyways, they will be back up next year. Sean J chill.

BTW, MRU would have to be crazy to shut down their program. They get so many applicants annually it isn't even funny.

Four brand new 172 skyhawks. I saw them at Montana Fun Weekend. I had to ask one of the guys that showed up in 3 of them at once where they were from in matching new Canadian registered cessnas. He said Calgary and they were bringing the planes back for Mount Royal's aviation program, they are getting 2 new twins too. Something unusual I can't remember what they were.

Did they get some of those Tecnam P2006s?

To me it seems like it would be really underpowered single-engine flying out of YBW. Perfect configuration for fire patrols for us, but doesn't meet the minimum power requirements...

Rumor has it once again that Mount Royal's Aviation Program is on the chopping block again...

As part of the Spring Provincial budget plan, Mount Royal is discussing cutting all degree programs - the Aviation program being one of them...

This program has been losing money for years. The new planes, new chair, new staff, new CFI were an attempt to draw interest back to this program... But the program is very expensive compared to the other flight schools.

That will be sad in my opinion. I guess you can still go to Sualt if you want a degree in aviation.

Wow! Mount Royal out of the game. Must be a vicem of provincial government budget cuts.

EFC loosing its reputation and credibility as they drag out the inevitable move to ZVL where they may or may not survive.

On the bright side, I heard Wetaskiwin is growing and expanding there business and now have operations in Lacombe and Rocky Mountain House.
