I think I know what you're saying droider. So what if they track me?
I'm not that interesting. Burger place, grocery store, instant teller, beer store.
It's kind of scary to think of google being able to find millions of pages some how related to your question in decimal points of a second. Now that same method is collecting info on you for some wonderful government rubber glove agency to miss interpret.
"Ok come with us YYRDroider, we know your partners with istp."
"But that guy's crazy and I'm YVR.."
"Tell it to the judge."

Re: Google+ invite
Google isn't the only one tracking you. Just about every website you visits involves "cookies", if you've been to a website with adds on it (such as this one) you're being tracked.
Tageted ads are how websites make their money. I can't say for certain, but it's likely how this website is able to provide you with a forum for your thoughts without charging you. Have you noticed the ads here, and how they seem to be tailored for you over, say, an Australian Sheepherder? It's also how Google has been able to offer you, for free, such things as Gmail, Maps, YouTube, Android, Earth, and a multitude of other things you probably use regularly without being concerned about tracking (which they do too).
Using a search engine not Google isn't going to stop you from being tracked. Turning your computer off and never using it again will.
If you're really interested in how this all actually works, take a look at http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/ or if you don't trust them to be honest in their official documentation, search "Google is tracking me" and find all the information that's been out there for years now. Oh, and if you see web pages giving advice about how to stop being tracked, usually by downloading software: don't do it, it's likely spyware. Go to the source, the Google link above will also tell you how to opt out of targeted ads.
BTW, 25 invites have been used, so there are still another 115 available at https://plus.google.com/_/notifications ... K8axrAc7dA

Here's Starpage's privacy information.
http://startpage.com/eng/protect-privacy.html
Sounds less sneaky than Google to me.
You can surf for hours finding example after example how Google's Big Brother computers know who you are and what makes you tick.
And the government can get that info from them.
https://sites.google.com/a/share.epsb.c ... acy-and-US
Why worry?
Let's say you were a dude in Berlin in 1933 and got wasted with your buddies and joked that Hitler had a moustache that looked stupid. Well, someone overheard it, suspected you might be a jew, communist or gay dude, so you were put on a list. No biggy for 1933, but a few years later, you were taking a train to Hamburg, and the guys asking for your papers happened to notice your name was on "the list". They follow their orders and put you on another train going to a camp. Not the kind with canoes and swimming classes.
IMHO, too much information leads to morons with no reasoning skills to follow moronic orders and make your life difficult.
I disable my 3rd party cookies, put adblock and flashblock onto my open-source Firefox, and stay away from Google.
Just search for CIA and Google and you'll get tons of reports. Here's one of hundreds:

Re: Google+ invite
Really, trey? Show a little interest in something not aviation related and I'm marketing for them? Let me guess how conversations with you go IRL. "Hey trey, are you on Facebook?" "What are you, a Facebook shill?" "Hey trey, have you seen Inception?" "Why, do you have shares in Warner Brothers?"trey kule wrote:So, are you part of a marketing effort?

Let's just say, I'm a fan of Google and their business model, and how successful they've been so far. Google+ interests me as an extension of that, and the 25+million users to sign up for it so far seem to agree with me.
And I don't see how length of time on here equates to honesty. If anything, i think the more time you spend on anonymous board like this one, the more apt you are to be rude, crude, and likely to shout down anything you don't agree with, whether you have a reason to or not. If you're comparing my time on here with yours, I guess I should mention that this account was just created recently when I forgot my login info. I don't have any personal attachment to anonymous accounts like these, so I just created a new one. I used be on here as the user Goose memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=668 which shows I've been here longer than you.
Now, istp, let's just ignore Godwin's law for now--no wait let's not. Nazi Germany? Really? That's what you think this world is like now, or is likely to become? And if you're so paranoid about anyone finding out anything about you, why do you have a blog detailing personal history?
Anyways, good luck to you. And that link again for those interested: https://plus.google.com/_/notifications ... K8axrAc7dA
Re: Google+ invite
You know, methinks thou doest protest to much.
I have always wondered when someone feels they have been wrongly catagorized that they dont just deny it. Well, actually, I dont wonder, for I have noticed that those that are wrongly catagoried dont try to convince anyone of the error by using examples, marginalizing them, or asking them to accept rationalizations.
It goes like this...
"Are you part of a marketing effort?"
Honest guy...."No!, and I am offended by your implication Sir"
Dishonest guy...."Are you the kind of person that cannot imagine someone is interested in something non-aviation? (notice...not denied
Lets just say I am a fan of their business model (fan..meaning,,,I get paid to do this???)
And now that I have finished dealing with the paranoid nay sayers, folks, here is the link so you to can become a fan of google, and I can get paid."
Notice, in the one, the denial is clear and unequivical..In the other, Well, it really does not address the question, does it?
But heck, I am paranoid and the world is full of inocent lambs...so link up folks...Help this poor guys "interest: as a fan....you know the kind of fan that not only posts the link once, but twice...he is one huge fan.

Re: Google+ invite
God dammit, I can't believe this is getting to me. I guess that just proves I'm not the type of person who thrives on this anonymous chatroom bullshit, like you. But ok, you need me to say it out loud and prove it. My real name is Trevor MacInnis and I don't work for Google and am not affiliated with it in any way.. You can find my Facebook profile at http://www.facebook.com/trevor.macinnis request to be my friend and we'll connect, I'll even get you in contact with my co-workers at Northern Thunderbird Air. My Wikipedia page at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... r_MacInnis . Here's a link to an edit i made on my page for you https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... =373363630 . But since none of that is legally binding proof that will hold up in court, what do I need to do to prove myself to you? How about if I post a picture of me holding up today's newspaper and my licence? How about if I send you a scanned copy of my paystub, or better yet a copy of my credit report, showing nothing at all on it from Google.trey kule wrote:You know, methinks thou doest protest to much.

Is that some kind of internet meme I don't know? I Googled "mw" and came up with this link:YVRDroider wrote: God dammit, I can't believe this is getting to mw.

Google still blows, IMHO.
Here's another cool scraper website if you're anti-Google.
http://scroogle.org/cgi-bin/scraper.htm
They have funny anti-Google cartoons every time you search.

At the risk of no longer being able to bait the bear, YVR please accept my apologies for ever doubting you had anything but honest interest in this subject.
Now lets all just join up to google so the government and big corporations can learn all about us and keep track of things.
The wi-fi scan is only a small portion of what google is up to..Check out their relationship with the CIA

Personally, I think that the only thing George Orwell got wrong was the date.
