Well isn't this great...
"“The only organized or collective physical aggression at that location that evening was perpetrated by police each time they advanced on demonstrators,” Justice Melvyn Green ruled on Thursday. He was referring to a demonstration at Queen St. and Spadina Ave. on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
Green stated police criminalized political demonstration, which is “vital” to maintain a “viable democracy.”

I wonder if this is cpl_atc in disguise, nah couldnt be, he knows that we are not to start cop threads on these boards anymore right???
The trouble with a ruling like this is that the judge is also a citizen and therefore holds a personal opinion. It was not based on law it was based on his personal beliefs and as we see on the boards, personal opinions vary greatly and it will be appealed and overtturned and then appealed again and overturned blah blaah blah

I dunno. Seems like most of all of the "cases" against people caught up in the G20 debacle have been lost or thrown out of court.
I'd still like to see someone who was giving orders that weekend take responsibility for not telling the police exactly what they legally could and could not do.
It's 100 percent wrong to tell crowds to disperse and not give them anywhere to disperse to, then arrest them all for not dispersing, not to mention all of the warrantless searches that were going on in violation of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The list goes on and on of the screw ups that happened that weekend. Let's hope the police learn from their mistakes and bureaucrats and politicians learn from theirs.
Wishful thinking.

His parents must have hated the poor little bugger to hang a name like Melvyn on him.
