Re: CANJET
I know at least two guys turned down (for DEC) by this outfit. (one's a Maritimer)
Both have excellent backgrounds, qualifications, experience and type ratings.
WTF is with this company?
Gino Under they can't find Canadian pilots to hire. They're right under their noses.

Re: CANJET
- DEC means - Direct Entry Captain. And CanJet is not hiring DEC's. They have enough experience within. i.e ex-skyservice guys.
- Company has said no more groundschools for the year. But that can always change...
- Yes they are taking in contract pilots this year. Yes some of them are unemployed canadian pilots. No type rating.
- Gino, hold off on the "WTF's" unless you know what you're talking about.

When you say no more gs, do you mean no more after October which they stated training for some of the initial advertising they were running. Can you expand on what people have been talking about regarding phone calls for NG type rated only. What is the term of the contract pilot.

I know what DEC means, but thanks for confirming it for me. When those I was referring to were interviewed Canjet were hiring DECs (not so long ago btw) the people I'm talking about were interviewed for DEC positions or they were simply BS-ing.
"Yes they are taking in contract pilots this year. Yes some of them are unemployed canadian pilots. No type rating."
It's interesting you used the words 'some of them are unemployed canadian pilots' when referring to contract pilots. Would some be foreign?
If 'some' are foreigners, not on a wet lease then I say again, WTF???
...and where is ALPO in all of this?

What Canadian pilot with sufficient hours, say ATPL and 1500-2500 hours couldn't handle an NG from the rhs? Has the NG type rating requirement anything to do with "that's the way Southwest does it"? "that's the way Ryanair does it"? etc., etc. I don't have any issues with Canjet other than the fact they're sneaking in pilots who have no business being here outside a wet lease agreement. That's just my opinion and don't giva who agrees or who disagrees. (with apology to my buds at Canjet) But, we as pilots need to have this debate to protect our professional opportunities right here at home.

Gino,
The clarification on DEC wasn't for you but for evilhomer. And yes, "some" means that there will be contract pilots coming in this year. And, no, I don't agree with it either...but all those decisions are well above my paygrade. I could get ito this a lot more, but not on here. Cheers bud!
Max
And Rex, the last GS I was refering to was for permanent FO positions, not contract...think they'll start some time in the fall...I'm assuming.

Re: CANJET
For the folks that got a call from Canjet HR a couple weeks ago, have you heard from them since?
