Aug 27 attempted forced entry emergency
Yesterday as we taxied to the gate in yyc someone called on 121.3 and declared an emergency requesting a vector for the nearest airport due to an attempted force entry to the cockpit. They also requested police on arrivel, and sounded fairly panicked. We didn't hear any more or catch the call sign. Cant find anything in the news. Anyone else hear this or anything?

No one heard anything because they called on 121.3

Re: Aug 27 attempted forced entry emergency
I just checked, and nothing was reported in the CADORS.
Why would an emergency aircraft use a ground frequency (or 121.5 for that matter) to request a vector instead of simply speaking to whichever ATC controller they were already speaking to? ( Yes, I am making some assumptions, but a cockpit door strongly suggests an IFR flight, and as it was heard from the ground it was probably close enough to Calgary to be under active ATC control).
Too bad you guys didn't catch the call sign. Do you remember the time? Perhaps the call was recorded here:

Why were you monitoring Clearance Delivery while taxiing to the gate? Perhaps you meant 121.5?Green Onions wrote:Yesterday as we taxied to the gate in yyc someone called on 121.3 and declared an emergency

Re: Aug 27 attempted forced entry emergency
Hey know it all. Clearance and apron are the same in YYC give the people a chance instead of trying to always tear people apart.
Re: Aug 27 attempted forced entry emergency
I was asking questions precisely because I don't know it all (never been to YYC). Something wasn't adding up and I wanted to confirm the frequency before looking further. Thinking of checking LiveATC. I apologize if it seemed I was trying to tear someone apart.Crackberry wrote:Hey know it all. Thanks for the info re: Clearance and apron being the same frequency. I have also seen ground control tied to clearance at airports during off-peak hours. But that still doesn't explain why the emergency aircraft was calling on a ground frequency.

Makes sense. If the OP gives the approximate time I will review the archives.

Cant believe there isnt more out there on this or nothing has come from it. Evan a CADORS.
It was on 121.3 which is also apron here in YYC, and the clearance control replied to the call. Whoever was making the call continued with requesting the vector and police on arrivel. Then nothing more. Very strange... maybe a prank? but wouldnt that be a CADORS?
It was about 1720 local time in YYC.

Re: Aug 27 attempted forced entry emergency
Only 6 reports in all of Prairie region showing so far from yesterday - I would think more to come. Give it a day and you will likely see something if clearance heard and replied to the transmission.
Re: Aug 27 attempted forced entry emergency
Must have been a little frightening.
I listened to the LiveATC archives for YYC for Aug 27 2300z-2359z (did I get the time right?) but couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary. The feed is incomplete, though. Seems like mostly Terminal (arrival, departure). Clearance/Apron isn't on it at all.
Please let us know if you hear anything else about this.
