It'd run the gamut, but for starters having some knowledge of 704 duty regs.
Cap gen take off landing approach alternate limits...
Where are the bases?
Ball park how many aircraft, what types?
If you are interviewing, either have your passport or have applied for it, and have a copy of all your licence paperwork.
Make a point of remembering the first names of all the people you are lead around by.
If going overseas you may require a police report so you might want to check around and see how you get one of them in your neck of the woods.
If you have an internal recommend, get a copy of the SOPs and give them a read particularly for briefings. If your chat goes okay things happen fast...

Do you have a current DHC 6 PPC. As this appears to be more important then the questions they ask. I have 2 freinds who both received calls from the cheif pilot within a few weeks of getting there PPC asking if they are looking to change jobs. No they did not apply for a job and are happy were they are. Just word of mouth to the cheif pilot by a freind that works there that they got their type rating.

Sounds typical of most 703/704 operators always looking to "steal" PPC'd guys first, regardless of experience or skill, I guess "money talks"....

Really not that "typical" of other 703/704 operators in that they'll still be around a few years from now. Good equipment, good rotation for some, a chance to see more of the world than your "run of the mill" northern ops. Where else can you go, and maybe get a chance to see the south pole?? Seeking guys with time on type, and maybe a PPC just makes $ence!

So because of the potential benefits for the pilot, you are defending this particular companies actions? I.E. targetting the newly-ppc'd for employment?

It may make $sence for Borek...however it screws us because the other companies want us to put up a bond to ensure that they are not paying for Boreks training.

But I guess all is fare in love and war...

I dont think they are "targetting newly-ppc'd" guys. An expired PPC should work.....time on type is always nice.....proves the guy can fly your equipment. I hear where you're comming from Tree, but any company will hire guys with time on type, all other things being equal. And I know I'm kicking a dead horse, but if you paid cash up front, well you know where I'm headed....and I've been down that road way too often....
And why shouldn't a guy move for better opportunities......isn't that the game of life??

Maybe if your company's paid you what your worth you wouldn't be so quick to jump ship. Or how about the chance fly in the north and to rotate our of a major city with half the year off. Maybe it's the chance to fly around the world, or fly out of a base that has palm trees...Hiring PPC'd pilots is done by every other company in the country from joes flying pizza to AC - it makes total $ense.

It's not Borek that screws other companies so they institute training bonds, it's the pilots who back out of their word/contract.

I can assure that we don't "target newely PPC'd pilots". We hire those that get recommended, persistant, or lucky. PPC or no PPC.

Don't blame the player, blame the game.

Cheers.

Where I work rampies do upwards of 2 years on the ramp. If they work hard then they've earned their ppc's and the company doesn't seem to mind if they run to boerek or where ever after their checkout. It's not like we have guys show up with one ppc on one machine, bag another checkout on a different a/c then jump ship a month later. That would be bulls%$t. However, it's guys that put 3 or 4 years in a northern town and make crap wages to earn that ppc, so they can do what ever the hell they want with it.

Not true. I have seen, with my own eyes, (Borek's Chief Pilot) walk up to my co-pilot as he's walking away from the aircraft he's just flown, and offer him a job. Clearly this is targetting the PPC'd and employed
Maybe if your company's paid you what your worth you wouldn't be so quick to jump ship.
I do agree with this statement though.

As for the interview...if you've got a PPC, the most you'll be asked is "do you want the job?" and "when can you be here".

As for stealing PPC'd guys, well thats a given....but keep in mind, after 4yrs I was PPC'd on a new type and bonded for a year. Other than that, I have seen them hire guys straight out of college..couple of them last fall.
