Seriously?
Nobody is going to mention C-FSKI
Which skidded off the runway in Fredericton (In the winter)
The Ironing always makes me laugh

Some people are like slinkies, they serve no purpose, other than to make you smile when you push them down the stairs.

Re: No Offence To The Owner, But...
At ne point before the crash someone had used black tape and added -DOO to the C-FSKI registration.

T236 (CL-215) was one of our fleet that crashed in 1991. Was registered C-GFQA. Couple of years ago, Think it was a L-188 that crashed in western Canada on a fire mission that killed the crew on board. Registration was C-GFQA.
The Best safety device in any aircarft is a well-paid crew.

Belongs on an Air Canada 767 now
Re: No Offence To The Owner, But...
What tops it for me is that all the air canada 777's (or at least their initial order) are C-FIT*

Not sure if it was mentioned yet but there are 2 Jazz DHC8s registered GONR and GONJ, the latter makes me think of a warm Jamaican beach
not too sure why?

Used to work on a Mooney M20E in Penticton that was C-FAAQ.
A 150 was there as well C-FUEL.
Quite a few Flight Designs CTs in the neighbourhood too with interesting ultralight reges. Like C-IZZY, C-ICEY, and C-ITRI.

A flight school in New Zealand has a whole bunch of 152s: PQP, NAN, DAD, SIS, SON, KID, MUM (mom spelt the british way)
Re: No Offence To The Owner, But...
I just read through this whole thread (started in 2005!) and it amazes me that aviation registrations don't have the same kind of nanny policing that car registrations do in Ontario. It seems they have a whole team of government funded psychologists vetting custom license plate applications to screen out any possible sexual, political, religious or racial connotations. If that were the case with aircraft registrations, I wonder how many would be banned?
Anyway, my question is, how are aircraft registrations assigned? Can you request them for a price? Do they get sold by owners for big bucks, like car registrations are in the UK?

Re: No Offence To The Owner, But...
Checked with my old log books and yes, it was a turbo-beaver based
at Toronto Island and it had the tail number CF-UCK in the sixties...
When the owner hiring me told me first, I had a chill...for a moment, thought the whole think
was a joke, but realized the old General was such a Victorian Puritan that
he never saw or noticed the letters. The other real odd thing was he had the Hertz(Ford) Rent a car dealership
but used only GM products...seem that the GM board was loaded with fellow Generals of the
north Africa campaign...they even sent a company DC-8 one day from Detroit with a box of steaks
to North Bay for a party at his fishing lodge nearby!
Ah! Another funny tail:
