Re: CBC asks: Tell us what the CBC means to you
Well Trey ... the problem with your ill-conceived suggestion is that the CRTC, CBC managers, and the politicians of yesteryear think you're an stunned, uneducated, unsophisticated, unwashed, smelly lout that would only do something less culturally enriching for yourself if you kept the money than if it is given to the CBC to increase their already bloated condition.
The haughty disdain the average CBC staffer feels for the likes of you can't be expressed while limited to text. You really need to see the facial expressions to get the full effect of their disgust ..... well, at least the dozen or more CBC employees that used to come over to my place during media parties or hung around "The Press Club" thought and spoke that way. It was also an underlying attitude in the majority of the personnel who worked with me.
The ensconced corporate culture of the CBC is one of superiority, condescention, and contempt for all things to do with private broadcasting and the people employed in it ... unless they are grovelling for a job at the CBC and if they prostrate themselves with sufficient reverence and buy a few hundred rounds for the right people, they may be given some grudging degree of acceptance, but not unlike a mongrel at a dog show ..... at least that is my experience based upon a long association.

Niss .... the moment I see "Huffington Post" in any reference, it is immediately discredited as being a tool of the Ariana Huffington most left of all left wing loon-supporting financier George Soros.
You may as well be reading material produced by Radio Peking, or the Castro brothers, Goebbells, or Stalin as far as I'm concerned.
But .... that's just one man's opinion. You're most certainly free to believe whatever you want, after all ... its a free country right?

So what? Maybe, just maybe they detected your hatred of them (not being deaf, blind and stupid) and were only reflecting a certain portion back at you.The Old Fogducker wrote:The haughty disdain the average CBC staffer feels for the likes of you can't be expressed while limited to text.
Personally I don't care what CBC staffers are like as long as they do their job. Likewise I don't need to love the mechanic who fixes my plane or the doctor who saves my life.
The problem here Foggy is that you let your personal animosity blind you to everything else, and you have so much of it you see little good in anything.
Re: CBC asks: Tell us what the CBC means to you
ah...rockie...speaking of being blinded ....I think foggy was responding to my post and directing that comment specifically to me,and, well to be fair, to the "likes of me} It really was not directed at you in any way .Unless ,of course, you are including yourself in the same catagory of smelly, undeducated louts as myself.
Now if you had said it was a hurtful, libelous statement I would have to agree with you..I am in no way stunned
But hey, if you want to argue, feel free to consider it was directed at you.
And to Niss.. Add the amount to the list. Maybe we could all pitch in some ideas and show the government how to actually accomplish what they are supposed to accomplish, and balance the budget. Hell of a thought isn't it?

Jeez I'm sorry Trey. All this time I didn't realize I was only permitted to speak when spoken to.
Speaking of which, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Foggy.

Re: CBC asks: Tell us what the CBC means to you
http://www.ottawasun.com/2011/09/07/can ... budget-cutOTTAWA - Canadians vastly underestimate the amount of money the federal government gives to the CBC each year and most say it's too much money, according to a new poll done exclusively for QMI Agency.
More than 80% of a group surveyed by research firm Abacus Data did not know the CBC will get $1.1 billion from the federal government this year. Only one-quarter believe the CBC get only about one-tenth of what the broadcaster actually receives.
Most Canadians - 60% - also thought the CBC gets too much money, including a majority of participants who vote Conservative or NDP. Abacus Data conducted a poll online with 1,003 Canadians from Aug. 12 to 15.
"This suggests there is clearly a lack of information amongst Canadians about just how much money the CBC receives," said Dr. David Coletto, who is in charge of Abacus Data's team of strategists and consultants.
Conservative, Liberal, NDP and Bloc Quebecois voters participated in the survey.
"Liberal party supporters are more likely to either believe it is not enough or about right compared to too much, whereas Conservative party supporters overwhelmingly - 79% - believe that it's too much money," Coletto said. "Interestingly, the NDP sort of fits in the middle here, with 53% thinking it is too much."
Poll results:

Looks like the majority polled think “the rents too damned high”. I wonder what comes next?
Re: CBC asks: Tell us what the CBC means to you
Nice try Jake. Abacus Data who did the poll makes no secret of the fact they work for Sun News. It's splashed all over their website along with a constant news feed from Sun News. Sun News even brags about David Coletto ONLY on their channel.

Amateurish bulls**t that's as unbelievable as everything else those clowns put out.
Ask yourself how much credibility you would assign to a poll announced by the CBC conducted by a CBC friendly firm (without providing details of course) asserting that a majority of Canadians think SunTV should be taken off the air.

That's a pretty good summary of the CBC.Amateurish bulls**t that's as unbelievable as everything else those clowns put out.
Re: CBC asks: Tell us what the CBC means to you
The poll results are meaningless, Rockie?........ probably closer to the truth than some of us would like to admit. The CBC is barely on the radar for TV audience stats. I say take a machete to CBC TV and leave radio alone. See, I’m not ruthless after all.

Hmm.
SunTV's own poll on their website shows dramatically different results from the same question.

How could this be?

No Jake. They are a joke.

Apples and Oranges, Rockie. (I think you know that.) SunTV viewers vs cold calls, from a call-bank.

CBC should be taken off the air. After Rob Rabinoitovic left his position as Chairman of the Canadian Jewish Congress to head the CBC for 8 years he destroyed it til it is what it is today. As was Im sure his intention. Its too bad, a Canadian institution has been lost...

Yeah, them pesky buggers are all over the place. They control the money supply, the news media, delicatessens, you name it.Oh .... so it was all a Jewish plot then?

Why not? Izzy Asper controls the print media. The Old Fogducker wrote:Oh .... so it was all a Jewish plot then?
I would never ever ever suggest that could be a leading reason Canada is so fervently devoted to Israel.
