I would say yes A & B are the same color...the background colors are different.

The squares labeled A and B are the same colour. Take it apart in Photoshop if you don't believe me.

By jove, hazatude is right!

Make an "OK" sign with your hand, but with the finger and thumb hole just big enough to see the letters A and B. (with your hand right up to your computer screen) The background colour is the same.

Gotta love them illusions.

Now, is A skidding and B slipping? Where's my copy of From The Ground Up?

Actually, square A & B are of different colours. The shadow cast upon square B gives it a darker coloration which is equivalent to be. So any whiter square under the shadow becomes of the same colours as any darker square outside of that shadow.
