Canada Goose Halifax Parka

Post by niss »

Well I am looking at a CG Halifax Parka that I think I can get a really good deal on.

I worked at an outdoors store that sells the stuff so I know how good these coats are, but I am looking for anyone who has personal experience with this model. This particular parka was discontinued so it wasn't as solid of a seller as the Expedition, Resolute, Matra, etc.

Anyone have this coat? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Niss

Dont do it! You will look like every other suburban teenage girl, especially if you have a pair of ugg boots to go with it. Unless thats the look you are going for...

I would much rather the expedition but this one has a few benefits:

-Lower price
-Shorter length, still long enough it doesnt ride up like a bomber style Chilliwack, but it is short enough I could fit in the plane or the truck.
-Has the coyote fur ruff I am looking for.
-Decent pocket layout

Can you speak to functionality? Warmth, wear resistance? This coat has a 60/40 Duck Down/Feather blend, whereas the fill in the Heli Arctic, Expedition, etc are All Duck Down & the snow mantra is Goose down.

I have had an Expedition since 2001 in Montreal and it is long and has a million pockets and keeps me warm and therefore not cranky. When I bought it, everyone laughed at me and now I am only one of the many. Like someone else says, they are trendy right now, parents will be thrilled as they can finally get their teens to go out in a coat instead of a hoody and runners. The fact they are trendy means lots of shops have them and winter is half over so you should be able to grind them a lot. I would get a darker colour coz they cost a lot to dry clean. Oh yeah, due to the fluffy insulation, sitting on it in the car is not a problem and it is long enough to not be a bum-freezer. I take it off in the plane coz we have an APU. :D

Get a long, dark one. A short light one will make you look like Tweedle Dee. Dark is slimming.

Edited to add - they wear really well, you can probably find a used one from someone who has rejected the north.......

I've rejected the north, but you can't have mine. I got mine from a customer, tags still attached, expedition. Nice gift to say the least. Good to have whilst taking out the trash.

Argh, they sold out the Halifax under me, I have a Heli-Arctic set aside, it is a little big but I suppose when this global warming finally kicks in I will have room for the sweater I will need.

Hahaha.... Not working anywhere it's required. I just think they're neat and you never know when you will need one. I had the oppourtunity to exchange a. Few hours of work for it, otherwise I would never drop the 8 bills on one.

That says if anyone is a few hundred pounds short of max gross and heading to anywhere that ends in "uktituk" I make a great travel companion.

A good 'urban' parka is one of these. I've had a Saguenay for better than 10 years, they're good down to -30.
