"Rescue crews are beating their way through the northern bush east of Yellowknife to where a small passenger plane with four people on board has crashed.
No word was immediately available on the fate of those on board.
A privately owned Twin Otter airplane has landed near the crash site, which is 30 kilometres from Lutsel K'e, a tiny aboriginal community on the east arm of Great Slave Lake. Rescuers are making their way from the lake shore to the downed Cessna Caravan 208."

Wondering how we could have done so well all these years and how it now seems almost unbelievable what is going on in the local flying community. Glad I sold my plane early enough. Thoughts and sympathies to all who are exposed to this ongoing nightmare.
Keep it Safe.

YK does not need this again. I'm not religious but please everybody be ok. Not sure what else to say.

What horrible news.. thoughts and condolences going out too all

It is interesting to note the various news media refer only to 3 northern crashes...it seems everyone has already forgotten about Wolverine's crash enroute from Fort Simpson a week and a half ago. Or is the media even aware of this crash? The only news article posted on the related thread was from the Montreal Gazette, which seems odd considering the accident location. Nobody seems to be disputing the comments attributing that accident to CFIT.
One thing is for sure - these accidents shouldn't be happening.
RIP

Geezuz, I didn't realize that the terrain was as high as that over there.
Re: Air Tindi Crash near Lutsel K'e
Take a look on Google earth at the posted pics of the east arm of GSL, the terrain is quite spectacular...and dangerous. Condolences.

The wx in YZF was 400-500 feet during the time period around the accident. There is an RNAV approach into that airport. I really hope that VFR low level CFIT isn't the cause.

Re: Air Tindi Crash near Lutsel K'e
What was that comment on the CBC all about at the end, where they said someone saw the airplane coming apart in the air?
The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.
After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

The chief coroner of the Northwest Territories has confirmed that the two people who died in Tuesday's tragic Air Tindi plane crash are pilot Matthew Bromley, 28, and passenger Tim Harris, 54.
The Cessna 208B plane crashed near Lutselk'e, N.W.T. It was carrying four people.
The two survivors, Bernice Marlowe and Sheldon Catholique, are being treated at a hospital in Edmonton.
no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.

The Transportation Safety Board has also completed much of its work on the ground at the crash site.
The T-S-B's lead investigator, John Pearson, said the early signs show the plane hit the west side of a cliff in the Petty Peninsula 25 miles west of Lutsel K'e.
"The first point of contact was landing gear and the wings, in a wings-level latitude with a fairly high speed, and we're thinking possibly cruise speed and with engine power available to it."
