Heart attack killed pilot prior to crash
Oct. 6, 2011, Miramichi, N.B. - A federal investigation has concluded that a pilot who died in the crash of a water bomber in northern New Brunswick suffered a fatal heart attack.

The Transportation Safety Board says a medical examination found 62-year-old Ron Clowes suffered the heart attack prior to the crash of his TBM-3E Avenger in April 2010.

The board's report says the Forest Protection Ltd. aircraft crashed two minutes after taking off from the airport in Miramichi for a practice water drop.

The plane was destroyed in the crash, which occurred just south of the airport.

Clowes was a resident of Grand Falls, N.B.
