This is another example of a BS interview. Seems like an attempt to Cathayize QR. I know that interviews are sometimes the business World's equivalent of a hazing at the Frat house but can somebody please explain the value in knowing what the Lat/Long of the airport is (is it for the existing one or the new one which they are completing), that Akbar Al Baker is actually of Pakistani origin or that he owns all of the liqour stores in Doha, that the Ruling Family recently experienced an attempted coup d'etat, how many models of any particular aircraft type they have (these things are changing on an hourly basis), why there is an image of a goat emblazoned on the tail of every Qatar Airways aircraft (and every crewmember's belt buckle), that the majority of the population is non-Qatari, that the country doesn't have a real economy, and that Akbar Al Baker is one of the few Qataris to have much of a work ethic? For the interview there is a good list of questions on latestpilotjobs that have been asked. Very straight forward. They are looking for humility, they don't need guys who show how they are always right.
For the interview, you need to know (but not limited to):
-Entire Fleet composition (Ex:how many 319-100LRs, 320-200, 321-200). How many orders they have and of what (Ex: 350-900's, 350-1000s)
-Company history, key dates
-Subsidiaries (all of them)
-Code share airlines
-Lat/Long of DOH Airport
-The CEO, who he is and his background
-Stats on The city & country (Population, economy etc...)
-The Ruling Royal Family and their history
Other questions for research:
- Do you know why Qatar Airways pilots are not allowed to drink orange juice or perrier water when on the aircraft?
- When are Qatar Airways pilots required to wear their hats?
- Do you know what the curfew hours are for QR cabin crew in Doha?
- Do you know what Akbar Al-Baker's nickname is?
