Validity Period of Signed-off Rating

Post by Boreas »

How long is a Class 4 instructor rating valid for if the license booklet has been signed of by and examiner following a renewal flight test? 90 days? The first of the third month?

I've searched the CARs to no avail:

I've searched the CARs to no avail:
You will find the answer within the license booklet itself. It is "90 days following the date of the certification". It is written where the examiner is writing and signing your rating.

Totally irresponsible, unnecessary, dangerous, immature and reprehensible. In other words brillant!

If you haven't received an updated sticker in the mail after 60 days, contact your local TC office and ask what's going on. Get them to email you a JPG temporary blue paper licence if they're going to take more than 90 days to get you a new sticker, which happens all the time in my region.

Addenum to the above, make sure you have your submission paperwork in front of you when you call them to enquire. If you don't have the exact date that the ninety days is working to you'll get the standard "wait longer" response and you won't get anywhere. Should you get to the 90 days and still nothing, contact the AP who signed off your license or rating. They can issue an extension for another ninety days.

I should say that they haven't been very speedy issuing the "self adhesive stamped label that is similar to a sticker" and lately it has been right to the ninety days.
