Looking for a Pitts pilot.

Post by KDMozdzen »

I'm an aviation student at Mount Royal University, doing a term paper on the Pitts Special.

Is anybody or know anybody that would be interested in doing an interveiw about the plane?

Bud was a staff writer for Air Progress about 30 years ago when he wrote about the Pitts you felt like you were there.

One article was titled If you ain't been outside you ain't been anywhere. He was talking about an outside loop............hell of a writer lots of passion wonder if I could find that story.
Now if you want an aviation Pitts related vacation Mr D can take care of that too! If he is still in business?

I would love to meet him in person.....

Gerry Younger would be a good choice, he built one of the first Pitts in Canada many moons ago and few A's and T's for many years.

For B's you could talk to Andrew Boyd, they have a few of them in Smiths Falls and he's been flying B's and the odd S for about 12 years now, think he's also flown the model 12, Christen Eagle and other derivatives.

I've owned and operated a T for about 12 years and have flown B's and A's and could fill in some details for you.

There is also a fellow in Montreal who is writing a book on Pitts and he knows all kinds of esoteric stuff on the subject.
Francois Bougie of bizzart.

Anyway drop me an email at peterashwoodsmith@yahoo.ca and I can connect you to a few folks that can help.

I did an interview with Bud Davison for an article I wrote on the Pitts for an aviation magazine, I'd be happy to share the article and my experiences with the aircraft. Just shoot me a PM with your email address.
