Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I kinda felt bad for Audrey. She put in a lot of time with Buffalo and she seemed to be a damn hard worker.
A person like her has the potential to do well in this industry (Straight from Joe's mouth). She's always smiling and almost always in a good mood no matter what kind of sh*t they throw her way.
Buffalo is a dying company, the Electra's sit on the ground for weeks at a time, everything else is falling apart. They should take better care of the people who are willing to put up with working there.
Sure Mikey seems to think its one big happy family. But if that were true they would take care of each other, especially when things were not going well for any one of its members, sort of like a real family.
Those who are foolish enough to goto Buffalo for a start in this industry I do feel for you and in a way respect you folks. Elsewhere you would not have to put up with half the crap you guys do at Buffalo. Elsewhere you could actually stand up for yourself without the fear of verbal abuse, or loosing your job.
Good for you Audrey for having the balls to move on....

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Ya, Joe and Mikey really rolled over on the kid. Clearly they had no intent to ever see her flying and were stringing her along in the hopes that she stay there and drive the truck for lower wages than they woud actually pay a truck driver. I have no problem with ramp jobs leading to flying jobs, hell it's a good idea to get your feet wet as a newbie by doing something related to ops, but to string someone along for two years, and then just dump them with "don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" attitude, is very telling.
No morals at all.

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I'm not sorry at all to see her go. I remember the first few shows they highlighted her. Cannot remember the comments now but she didn't care if others were there first and she got to fly ahead of them while they had put in there hard wok end effort. Remeber the big guy who eventually left.
Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Agreed, good riddance to her. I suspect it was mostly editing, but in previous seasons Audrey was portrayed as a selfish little _____ who didn't give a damn about anyone else in the company and she wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of Joe's sexist policies to leap frog over anyone to get where she wanted, then, she leaves for a few months for personal reasons and expects the company to just stop everything and wait for her? Welcome to the real world chickie poo, you aren't the centre of the Buffalo universe.
It is confusing though, because everyone in the company talks about what a great person she is and how she brightened up the company with her smile.
The only people who know the real Audrey are those who worked and played with her. I couldn't stand her on the show, but I'll keep an open mind if I ever see her on a WJ flight.

I wounder if WJ has a Flight attendant to right seat program going? I give her 18 months than she will be out trying to be a pilot again, and she will just be 18 months further behind.

Well one thing for sure, she won't be like she is in the movies, LOL. This stuff is scripted and the actors are cheap, welcome to reality shows that aren't real.

I agree, when she arrived she didn't care who she walked on to get to be Joe's favorite. Good to she her gone.wan2fly99 wrote:I'm not sorry at all to see her go. As of 2011/10/17, C-GBNV was sitting in Red Deer with all 4 props feathered, the tank is on the airplane and it looks like there is some sort of spray gear mounter above the wings. It looks like they are still working on the airplane. It had a tug hooked up to it.
Does anyone know what ever happened to the big guy, Jerimey Dow? I sure hope he found a good flying job somewhere.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
LAst I heard, 'the big rampie' had moved across the ramp to one of the other companies in the 'Knife. That was two years ago, so it would be a safe assumption that he is in a seat of something by now...
WRT the Audrey situation, did she really trample on other people to get 'her' seat in the -3, or was she just edited that way? Likewise, her departure? Face it, running an airline isn't that exciting..a bit of judicious editing, however, and you've got yourself some compelling TV. (to pilot geeks, anyway!

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I could have sworn that Jeremy posted here on AvCanada during the show last season and filled us in on some more details regarding his scenario.
Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Quite right. BUT, that was last year......at that time it was like North Shore said.Lowjack wrote:I could have sworn that Jeremy posted here on AvCanada during the show last season and filled us in on some more details regarding his scenario.
He got screwed, Audrey got screwed, and McBryant's, " Universe " got more cheap overqualified labour. Buffalo Airway's future is directly related to how long Duane Hicks stays around.

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Anyone notice that no one is wearing seatbelts in the gear up/down episode....lol
Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Just goes to show how much value Joe puts in his people....zero.
Putting money into aviation is like wiping before you poop....it just don't make sense!

I don't want to spoil it for people, but FYI the show runs abouthe's been gone for about 7 months already
a year behind. When you see a new episode, it wasn't filmed
earlier that day!

Speaking of things that are behind, I notice that this week's episode has not been posted online? Or was the episode itself pre-empted by Remembrance Week specials?

There was no episode this week as the History Channel devoted the week to Rememberence day specials.North Shore wrote:Speaking of things that are behind, I notice that this week's episode has not been posted online? Or was the episode itself pre-empted by Remembrance Week specials?

How interesting. Word was that when he took over his dad's company, it wasn't long before it was bleeding red ink...bad. Eventually sold to Discovery Air. Based on my direct observations back then....an expected end result.

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I know, third post in a row. Commenting as I watch, but if I had a hydraulic problem like that with an unauthorized non-fix, I would try to keep it off TV.
It could just be editing but if the show is accurate, they are concerned about whether brakes will be available on the landing in YZF with the C-46 with winds 040/05. I think I would land on the long runway myself, not 09.
Then on the flapless landing where they have a heavy load on board and lots of fuel, one might consider burning off fuel seeing as they are not sure about whether the brakes will be available. This could have more than 1 benefit. Probably just editing though.

This program is presented as a paid advertisement
This is a new addition to the show. For some reason, I can't see Joe paying the History Channel to broadcast Ice Pilots... what gives?
