Ahramin,
Just curious what you fly or how much time you have (flightsim not included) since you seem to have a sarcastic comment of every single thread on this site. You seem to have something for everything!
Not trying to burst your bubble... I'm just curious, that's all.

Just the one mental picture of a plane taxiing to position and off the runway when the tailwheel collapses... not funny.
Picturing ahramin taxiing fast enough to keep the tail in the air... funny.
With enough things in the world (and aviation) to depress people, I for one appreciate guys like ahramin. Keep 'em coming!

While I don't know the takeoff weight for a '46, I think I recall a freight weight of about 17000 pounds for the shorter range trips.
Frankly, I'm always impressed that a machine built in the early '40's works basically every day for 60 years and suffers as little as they do. Buffalo has had their fair (and un-fair) number of shots on the forum, and to their credit manage vintage airplanes with great reliability. Jim Smith and for a time, Jeff Schroeder, treated these machines as if they were their own children.
From what I recall of the 46's Buffalo has, both were Air Manitoba machines who were hard freighting out of the 'Peg and Pickle Lake. Later they found a home for a while in Kenya. Whilst in Pickle, one of them (maybe AVO) wound up getting blown off runway while loaded and was dragged off to the side for a couple of years.
During the Air Manitoba years one of them was named the Ancient Lady. This was thirty years ago, and it's still around!
We've had a dozen of their former pilots work for us, and measured in terms of ability work ethic and common sense, they have been head-and-shoulders above our average similar-time hires.
Didn't see the recent damage. Didn't particularly want to. One thing I'm sure of is that it'll be fixed, and up driving again soon.

Re: Buffalo Airways......again.
The MTOW of a civilian C-46 is 48,000 lbs. For a military C-46 it is 45,000 lbs
Re: Buffalo Airways......again.
The C-46s that were in East Africa between 1993 and 1995 were C-GTXW (Ancient Lady), C-GIXZ (Taz) and C-GIBX.
IXZ crashed shortly after takeoff from Loki. As far as I know, it's still there.

Re: Buffalo Airways......again.
Who else got 2/3rds of the way through this thread before they realized it was 8 years old, and was looking forward to seeing this exciting drama play out on Ice Pilots next season?
no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.

It's like a METAR grimey, you only check the time after someone else points out that something is amiss.
