Local flying in a C-130J
If we can put oil in the engine while we're flying then we have absolutely no problem at all.

Re: Local flying in a C-130J
Who said there are no old, bold pilots? That grey-haired
guy in the left seat can really fly that pig
These guys might be ex-USN BA Herc crew. The right
seater made an "on-shore wind" call.
Given the rates of pitch and bank and high alpha that
these guys were comfortable with, I don't know why
they didn't do a full aileron roll. Company rules? I would
gladly roll a Herc, given the opportunity. It would be
quite easy, compared to some aircraft.

Nice video, good flying, way too much "chatter" that seems to be common in military flightdecks for my liking.

We haven't perfected mind reading yet... We like to keep our crew informed of what is going on, what is going to happen and what we are doing next.Donald wrote:Nice video, good flying, way too much "chatter" that seems to be common in military flightdecks for my liking.

and then tell me how that works out for you guys, especially when someone says: "I don't even know where we are" followed by "Guys, I'm concerned" followed by....silence...

One can hardly conclude that "over communicating" was the fault of that accident. Military crews brief differently and do indeed have "slightly" less accidents ... get my drift.

The pilots are long time Lockheed Martin test pilots. Good show.

Excellent video to learn from (the C5 @ Dover crash).
Keep in mind there are many crew members on the intercom and or recorded on the CVR. The 'I don't even know where we are' comment is likely from one of the guys not in the flight deck.
There are likely two separate conversations going on that are on the CVR.

Military cockpits also have far too many hula girls on the glare shield.Adam Oke wrote:You mean this kind of chatter?Donald wrote:Nice video, good flying, way too much "chatter" that seems to be common in military flightdecks for my liking.
