Starting all over again in Canada
I am presently flying overseas, but am sitting at the bottom of the list with not much movement coming. Because of my distance from Canada, I am somewhat out of touch with Air Canada's hiring specifics. I really want to come home to Canada and am curious regarding:
Starting Pay - Is it $37,000 (y1) and then $45,000 (y2) regardless of type?
Equiptment - Does everybody start out in the EMB190?
Upgrade Times?
Retirement Numbers?
Domicile for new hires?
Morale?
The possibility of being JetStarred and slowly replaced?
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bruce,
I assume you've got an application in with AC plus the other Airlines in Canada. If you get called for an interview you can get your questions answered at that time. Morale is good, most of us would fly well into our Seventies, for free
Obviously the first step is to get an interview with an Airline, ask them what the future looks like.

The starting pay is correct for now. I would expect to see an uplift with ratification of the new collective agreement.bruce-the-moose wrote:I am presently flying overseas, but am sitting at the bottom of the list with not much movement coming. Starting equipment: E190/777 or 767 RP. I would expect direct entry into 320 in new collective agreement.
Junior captain would be without looking, a 2006 or perhaps very early 2007 hire.
Retirements, 80-140/yr for the next decade
YYZ/YUL have been used, but an outside chance of YVR OR YWG. Almost certainly YYZ.
Morale is about 1000x better than reading this forum would have you believe. You have a very large proportion of the classic 5% rule represented here.
There are scope protections, and I would think very limited chance of getting the QANTAS treatment despite managements wishes.
