Re: Globe and mail interview with Greg
I still think its gonna be Q400's. At least I hope it will be Q's. As a maintenance guy working on high wing stuff is way easier. The RJ is nice but the Q is more practical for the smaller market stuff. Shorter runway, still cat III able (hgs) just as fast (point to point), not made out of glass
, cheaper cost to buy. Oh and its environmentally friendly too!
Re: Globe and mail interview with Greg
I would like to see the C series but I think the Q is probably the best for what they want to do.
Re: Globe and mail interview with Greg
You guys are all wrong. I heard from a very reliable source (one of the EVP's) that we will be announcing an order for 20 Xian MA60 in the New Year.
They are modern, efficient, and perform well. The advantage to them over the Q400 is they never need to be repaired. When they break, you just scrap them and buy a new one.

Happy New Year Everyone!
As much as I'd love to see some expanded service here into YQL (YQL-YVR please!!!). I don't see how a q400 would make sense. I don't doubt that WS would be able to stimulate the market but I don't know if it work that well. Where I think the Q400 would be great is into YMM or YQU where you could bump the frequency or perhaps in the eastern markets. Places like YQL, YXH and YXC would be able to support a 50 seater (and did so when it was KI) but I don't think a 70 seater would make sense.
I would have thought that Clive and crew wanted to conquer the world first. I have had him say directly to me that it was up to the people in smaller centers (such as YQL) to make it into places such as YYC. Of course Clive has changed his mind in the past and may be ready to do so again.
Just a gut observation (or my .02 as it were)
STW
P.S. Doesn't WS still have a whole bunch of 37s yet to come with lots of routes yet to enter/solidify?

WS re-negotiated it's 737 deliveries with Boeing, all the details are here...Enhanced FlexibilityStoptheworld wrote:P.S. Doesn't WS still have a whole bunch of 37s yet to come with lots of routes yet to enter/solidify?
With that being said, currently we have 98 B737's and could have as little as 112 by 2016. So I think we're seeing the end of our 737 growth.

Q400
If WJ wants reliability, efficiency and capacity then the Q400 is the answer. I can highly recommend the Q400, she is overpowered and an absolute joy to fly, both as a pilot and as a passenger. I should know after 10 years on the bird! Too be honest, the Q400 is a profit generator when correctly operated and slotted into the niche markets outside of the main 737 routes.
I really hope that WJ goes for the Q400 because I believe that WJ has the capacity to create a second renaissance in Canadian air travel by opening up smaller routes and markets with the Q400.
It would be a wise move and one worthy of investing in
Just say'in!
Happy New Year 2012 guys and gals.... looks like 2-12 is going to be another good year for WJ!

Re: Globe and mail interview with Greg
They know their guests don't like props, no one really does when giving the choice. And they would be forced to do a name change.... Maybe they'll get a deal from the Fed's if they buy Bombardier. Time will tell
Re: Globe and mail interview with Greg
Isn't the Q400 also a much easier equipment to get all the RNP stuff set up on?
