PFO letter: The Actual wording (good vs bad)
Would somebody be able to give me an actual wording for the whole good vs bad PFO letter from AC? I've seen so many statements that are contradictory and one guy made a this or that statement when I have seen both of the phrases.

Regarding the different PFOs, does getting the "good" PFO (please reapply in six months) mean you most likely screwed up the various cog or personality tests.
Does getting the bad PFO mean you botched the face-to-face? Or could you have scored so low on the tests that they don't ever want to see you again.

How long after a pilot interviews do you start hearing the calls for medical/pfo? I know a group of pilots finished interviews on the 13th, is this the past round you are making reference too? Good luck to all!!Fotoflyer wrote:Good luck in your career - bad.

Take this for what it's worth: I was working with a sen. CA recently.
Apparently the hiring dept. will interview a batch of 20-25 ppl at a time. They must decline 2/3 candidates, so essentially you're "competing" against your "heat". *IF* this is true, it's a very stupid hiring practice. They're turning down otherwise good pilots, or hiring sub-standard pilots if it's not a good pool of interviews. If you were cut but interviewed well, then you're given the 6 month "try-again" letter.
I know a number of excellent pilots with outstanding credentials who've been given the 6 mo. PFO. I'm sure we all know a few.
Of course, this is third hand info so user be ware.

Why is this "stupid"? It's the only thing that makes sense given that the hiring committee is rotated, further adding to the subjectiviity of the process. At least you're competing against people that were interviewed by most of the same people, or there'd be more complaining. And with all due respect, I don't think anybody is hiring too many sub-standard pilots; some people are not PFO'd for some time, so if the current pool lacks what is being sought, they can call back competitive candidates from deeper parts of the pool.flyincanuck wrote:it's a very stupid hiring practice. Interesting perspective. You have some points.
If this process is true: I believe that ejecting candidates on the premises of policy rather than performance and credentials is stupid.

For those that did the interview in Jan 2012, has anybody heard anything? Good or bad? Any calls for medicals? Any pfo's? Best of luck to everyone!

Re-Apply in 6 months...the VERY worst thats going to happen is no call...you will definitly not ever get a call if you don't re-apply. Sorry to hear...I hope you are successful next time!!

I heard first-hand from the Recruitment Manager that the two different letters mean the exact same thing. Everyone is looking into the wording way too much. Reapply in six months if you still want a job.

I still think its hilarious that a company that size sends an email out to you asking you to come for an interview...
It would have been nice at least if they changed their generic letter from the previous guy and put my name instead...

For a company the size of AC, I think email is the best/easiest way to be in contact with people. Email candidates for interviews and & medicals (unless it's short notice), then give a phone call for the "you're hired" part.
If you don't have a valid email nowadays, then you're probably too old to be going to AC anyways
