Re: Famous Canadian Aviators Wiki Pages
They created this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Bayliss_Lothian
Being in the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame, ought to do it
for "notability"!
Gotta play by their rules. Anyways, yes, I'm getting behind
but I seem to be caught up in a series of annual inspections.

I'll take this chick: Vera Elise Strodl Dowling - but seriously, you could only find one girl??? I''m way bit over committed to take on the initial research for names at the moment, however you give me a list of women to work with and I'll take up your challenge on their behalf. As a Ninety-Nine, Whirly-Girl and Women In Aviation member I have several teams of women at my disposal I can call on for help.
Cheers,
Kirsten B.

Re: Famous Canadian Aviators Wiki Pages
Vera Dowling is a good choice Snoopy. Lots of history there.
Molly Reilly was on the list too, albeit under her full name. She was flying DC3's out of the Muni back in the very early days, as was her husband Jack. I never met Molly but heard lots about her from Jack--one of the first women in aviation and she was flying heavy a/c into the North on a full-time basis. I believe their son became a cp. Perhaps he's here and could provide info on both.

Amazingly as well there wasn't a page for Stan Turner, but I've now fixed that.

Re: Famous Canadian Aviators Wiki Pages
Incredible guy! It's bizarre that someone as accomplished
as he, didn't have a wiki page. It must have something
to do with the Canadian psyche that I simply do not
understand. In Canada success is something to be ashamed
of, not unlike having syphillus. I digress.
PS I spent today doing another annual inspection, sorry
I was not wiki-ing! I will try to do another page RSN.

Re: Famous Canadian Aviators Wiki Pages
Changed Fern Villeneuve's infobox to a military person infobox, hope that's OK.

Just bringing the list to this page.
They're doing a black out right now to protest the potential SOPA legislation that could crush them and sites like this one. Or just remove a ton of content because of copyright infringement.

Re: Famous Canadian Aviators Wiki Pages
Not sure what you need to change there, why is it all on the "talk" page rather than the article page?

They wouldn't accept it as an article.Shiny Side Up wrote:why is it all on the "talk" page rather than the article page?
I do find humour in the fact that the Government of Canada is not good enough as a reference and being credited with developing the Canadarm isn't notable to wikipedia. The reviewer wrote: This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia.

I think the forum messed up your link. The Jan Zurakowski page has pictures and everything. I didn't know he was still alive until 2004.
