Did your tailor quit recently?
Just curious why I am seeing more and more fresh Air Canada faces around terminals wearing shirts and jackets that don't exactly fit nicely. A few others have remarked at this recent phenomenon and I'm curious to know what's up. The AC uniform is generally a well-tailored precision item, why the down-turn for the new recruits?
Anyone see the movie BIG with Tom Hanks? You know when he walks away at the end and turns back into a kid? Yea, that's the uniform fit we're seeing more and more of.
If you're doing 2 trips to Newark a day, stop and see a nice tailor.

Re: Did your tailor quit recently?
They look like crap because Air Canada went from a custom tailored uniform to off the rack last year. Now we can look just as bad as our US counterparts.
Re: Did your tailor quit recently?
Personally, I went into the AC fitting facility wearing my new work shoes. Wearing proper shoes to a fitting was something I had grown accustomed too. When the women asked me to take my shoes off, to hem the pants I was slightly surprised. Details...

Since we went to the off the rack tunic I have left mine at home. Perhaps it's due to my ever expanding girth, however I have been unable to get a tunic that fits me properly. Hard when you are shaped like a reverse hourglass.
So for now it's overcoat only.

You measure a hem by standing barefoot and pinning the back of the pant leg so it almost touches the floor.HuD 91gt wrote:Personally, I went into the AC fitting facility wearing my new work shoes. And right after that, the tailor usually "cups" your "boys" to move them over the one side so he/she can measure your inseamteacher wrote: You measure a hem by standing barefoot and pinning the back of the pant leg so it almost touches the floor.

Your tailor sounds like way more fun than mine.TopperHarley wrote:And right after that, the tailor usually "cups" your "boys" to move them over the one side so he/she can measure your inseamteacher wrote: You measure a hem by standing barefoot and pinning the back of the pant leg so it almost touches the floor.

Re: Did your tailor quit recently?
few days ago I saw some Cx pilot and f/a crew walk down the terminal and could see their perfect grooming, neat uniforms and lady's perfect hairdressing while the AC crew looked like a station master in a shapeless coat.

The race to the bottom continues!!

Re: Did your tailor quit recently?
You might have noticed that Air Canada does not brag about the expertise and professionalism of their pilot corp. I suspect the reason is because they couldn't care less about the expertise and professionalism of their pilot corp, and even if they did brag for purely cynical commercial reasons it might give us some justification for being treated like a professional.CanadianEh wrote:The race to the bottom continues!!

That's the last thing Air Canada wants.

So does making the "Pilots pilot's want to be" look like they're leaning on a bar. The only thing missing is a pint of Guinness in their other hand. I had forgotten about that ad and if ACPA were smart they could get an awful lot of PR mileage out of it at this point in time.unregistered wrote:Man, those hats look rediculous!
