Loss of licence insurance for airline pilots
Hi,
Is anyone out there aware of any good loss of licence insurers with regard to airline pilots living and working overseas (that are Canadian).
The company I currently work for offers it, but the package is rather abysmal.
Can anyone advise by chance? Many thanks!

I think that the Professional Pilots Insurance Program is still in effect...

If you search for PPIP on here, there's a few threads a while back..

Thanks for the replies! Much appreciated.
I did check out Harvey Watt a little while ago, but they told me I needed an FAA ticket/medical... oh well...

Try Bupa. Most guys who are using them are very happy for the value they get versus what the contractor offers.

Re: Loss of licence insurance for airline pilots
I'm looking for Loss of Licence/Medical insurance. I'm part of ALPA but unfortunately the only products that are offered by ALPA is to US pilots.
I have PPIP insurance but from what I can gather, this is life insurance. I have AD&D included in my plan.
Am I already covered under AD&D? The language used talks more about loss of life or limbs (non-occupational). What if I have a neurological problem down the road, am I covered under AD&D? I won't pretend to know, thats why I'm doing my research.
Any insight?

If you have AD/D it is likely you have a Short Term/ Long Term disability plan. Not exactly loss of licence insurance but better than nothing.

Is kidnapping covered?
And not just for pilots. Mechanics and flight attendants.

Bump to an old thread..
I'm still searching if its possible for Canadians to get loss of medical insurance.
Anyone heard of Canadian Specialty Underwriting? http://www.specialtyrisk.ca/DI/Group%20LOL.htm
They claim to offer permanent and temporary loss of medical. PPIP seems to offer only non-occupational AD/D, and only if you are also getting life insurance.

You should try and find out who Westjet mainline's insurer is. Last I heard, they had a pretty good loss of licence package. Don't know if it is available to 'the public' tho..

Re: Loss of licence insurance for airline pilots
We have NO loss of licence insurance at WJ. It has been getting worked on for the last couple years, yet nothing.
Re: Loss of licence insurance for airline pilots
Just to note, Harvey Watt told me they insure Canadians, and you do need an FAA medical (but no license).
Re: Loss of licence insurance for airline pilots
You need an FAA medical to qualify or you need to maintain an FAA medical to be insured? i.e. Can I submit for an FAA medical and be granted insurance then not get any further FAA medical and still keep the insurance?
