Go to http://www.ivao.ca/charts/ to get Approach plates, HI and LO charts, CFS and VFR charts in PDF format. http://www.ivao.ca/pilot/routes.html has preferred IFR routes. It really is a handy website, just be advised they're not legal for navigation (some plates haven't been updated since '06).

Wonder if Canada will ever have a website like airnav.com or if NavCanada enjoys too much of a comfy profit replacing everything every two months :P

As I understand the post. The guy was looking for "CAP GEN". I'd like to have that answer too. The above link doesn't include the CAP GEN pages..... I think it's still only in the paper version.... Anyone????

The RCAP Gen is available in PDF on the RCAP CD ROM. It's exactly the same as the CAP GEN. If you know someone with a RCAP CD subscription, copy one from them. No-one should have a problem with that right? since the CAP GEN is supposed to be free?

Go to and register with http://www.fltplan.com

All the current (wee!) Canadian approach plates and stuff up there. No IFR enroute maps or anything yet though...I think.

Conveniently...they are apparently "not to be printed" but perfectly legal to use with an approved EFB if you op allows that etc...etc...
They can't be printed or something because some of the colour issues with printers or something like that.

EDIT: ohh, and it's free.

It's free and available on NavCanada's website.

But I've put a copy of the current one on my DropBox for those interested.

CAPGEN in PDF is available on Navcanada's website for free

http://products.navcanada.ca/Products/Electronic-Downloads

Just select it, buy it (with credit card info) and you will be able to download the current version, as well as the future version, 10 days before the valid date.

Can't find it in fltplan.com either. They only seem to have the legends and abbreviations pages.

I've submitted a NavCanada order for just the electronic capgen and it says 'pending'. Though it does also say you must buy a CAP to get the CAPGEN.

Its surprising how difficult it is to get this publication without buying CAPs...

Edit...actually it worked, I had just downloaded the wrong date version.

I always download the current CAP GEN from the Nav Canada site. Has never failed me, just have to type in a credit card number for some reason even though its free.
