Forget about that coveted retirement job, those AC glorydays are long gone. Get the type rating say byebye to yyz and outsource yourself.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
So I noticed that Air Canada is no longer accepting applications for pilots. Is that all for the year or is this just temporary while they get through negotiations? And also has anyone been invited for an interview lately?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
I wouldn't read too much into the application disappearing. This happens occasionally as it is edited or renewed etc. Still expect 20 per course per month, with the next course on the first week or March. Lots of spots to fill still. Good luck.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
I am just wondering if anyone can provide some info on getting the call. I have 3500 hours TT, not quite 1000 MPIC over 12500 (haven't ticked off the check box yet), aviation college. At least four of my friends have had calls. Most with 500 hours more than I have but one had 500 less.
Any suggestions on how to stand out from the crowd of people like me?

How long before a course date does AC usually make the call. I did the interview, medical and they checked references, now just waiting to hear back and hoping to hear soon.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
nope, they're interviewing for the 747-8 right now with possibly outsourcing some of those brand new cathay's queens of the skies to help them paying the rent for those big birds... tough times in the freight right now...

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Was anybody not able to get original copies of their transcripts? One of my schools doesn't even exsist anymore, being on the other side of the country doesn't make it easier either.

Congrats on the interview,
Air Canada doesn't interview for a specific type, once hired you'll bid from the positions available to your Pilot Indoctrination Training class, or any equipment bid which may be open while you're on course. You bid for your preferred base and aircraft type, these are awarded based on seniority. The Equipment bids are conducted between 2 and 4 times per year. The 787 should be on appearing on an equipment bid late this year for entry into service in 2014. Most of the airport hotels will pick you up from the terminal, but taxi is probably the best way to your interview.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
I stayed at Hotel Indigo, they pick you up in the shuttle from the airport and you can book the shuttle to take you right to the interview, just ask them to take you to The CAE building which is connected to the Air Canada building where you do the interview. They will also pick you up when you're done and take you back to the hotel to grab your bags and then to the airport so it saves a bunch of money on taxis. It's a nice hotel too. Good luck.
