Multi IFR
Now that its easier to convert FAA ratings onto Canadian Licences is it beneficial to do ratings in the US and have them added to Canadian? Opinions and thoughts on this. Have a friend who is thinking of going this route as he has passed the FAA Instrument written which I believe is good for 2 years.

Re: Multi IFR
It used to be. But with the TSA overhead, I'm not so sure any more.
Just be certain if you go that route, that you get enough hours to keep
TC happy with respect to the experience requirements for the licences
and/or ratings you want to convert to, in Canada. The USA flight schools
won't have a clue about that, so it's up to you to know the CAR 421
minimum experience requirements and be sure that you meet them.
Also, the FAA has a completely different definition of PIC which will drive
you nuts. It's not always simple to count your dual/pic hours towards
Canadian licences.

Re: Multi IFR
Thanks for the reply- I am sure that the Multi will not be a major problem but will let him know for the Instrument part for sure, he does have all of the Cross Country requirements already.
