There is also the background check too. But that comes after the medical and usually around the time of your reference check.
I've been invited to an interview as well. What do they look at in the background check. Is it just a criminal record check to see if you can get a RAIC and a reference check or does it go beyond that?
A lot of foreign airlines require one of these checks along with certain volunteer organizations such as museums. It is done by a local police station to check for convictions of certain offences. Apparently, there are 4 levels of thoroughness for the Basic check. Have done one. Not a big deal for someone with a clean record, however, there is also the Vulnerable Sector Check which is the highest level basic check plus a search for sex offences that have been pardoned. You could do this one if you are going to be associated with minors.
Don't be surprised if your form comes back saying that there MAY be a match. In the event that the gender and date of birth of the applicant matches any sexual offence record in the system, he/she is required to submit fingerprints to the RCMP for a physical confirmation that you have no conviction.
I do not work for AC ... BUT I used to work with a few guys who are there. I used one of them for a Ref. for a couple of job postings last December. Two guys told me the same things. What AC hired last year .... they want to hire X2 this year. So I guess that means two courses a month.
For guys like me I wish it were 4 classes a month. I don't want to work there. But it would make the rest of aviation in Canada a Chess Match.
Waiting game continues... interview was early Feb (success), sim check was mid Feb (success), got the call scheduling me for the drug screen and criminal record check early this past week. Completed both of those, so now I suppose after they get those results they start calling references?
Does anyone know how many days typically pass before your references start getting called? It's only been three days... but still, the suspense is killing me considering how fast everything progressed to this point!
My references got called before I did my medical actually. References were called on Jan. 6th, I did my medical on the 9th and got the offer on the 11th, so once the process begins, it seems to happen pretty quickly.

Before the medical, wow... My medical was booked for the morning right after the phone call so there wouldn't have been time. How much time passed between your post-sim phone call and Jan 6th?
CONGRATS by the way! Hope I'll be seeing you there.
Phone call: January 25.
Interview: January 31.
Sim Eval: February 18. (CAE at YYZ).
PFO: February 21.

I thought the sim went well, just a bit of trouble with power and altitude initially, but once corrected, sim went well. Don't know what they are looking for.
Mar 25 GS is all dash 8 100/300. 6 YYZ, 4 YVR, 1 YYC, 1 YUL. Next ground school April 23 has 14 people, already filled. Supposed to hire 120 this year.
What is Jazz looking for? I hear guys getting hired with as much time as 3 and 4k and then we have 1000 to 1500 hour guys? Some myths indicate that they are looking for multi time which can't be correct when we are all placed in the same line of seniority as the 250 hour college grad?

Cheers!
In my Jan. 30th class, except for a college grad everyone had over 3000 hrs TT and at least 1000+ multi-turbine PIC/SIC on mostly >12,500 (Metro's, Dash-8, Saab, Twin Otter, B350) if that helps.
