plane rentals in canada

Post by apilotguy85 »

Just wondering where in canada a plane can be rented for the cheapest cost available. I need to go back to school for approx 40 hrs PIC so i can get my ATPL, i also do not want to leave my job because at the moment im in too good a position to leave (average wages and living home) so just looking for opionions. all my research i found i can get a block of time from my old flight school for approx 5k+tax+checkout on a 152.

Take it. Our normal retail price on a 172 is $120/hr, which
works out to be $4800 plus tax. The difference isn't worth
bothering about.

You don't say what part of the country you're living in.

That sounds decent. In the Toronto/GTA it will cost you $6k on the low side, to $8k on the high side in the C-172. Add to that the 13% HST.

Let's do the math, Flying the plane is going to cost over $100 an hour, and you live and home and work. 10 x 4 hour flights take care of that 40 hours of PIC, and I SUGGEST YOU FLY AT NIGHT SO YOU GET YOUR PIC NIGHT time for your ATPL. If you live at home, and you work so you make at least $10/hour, food is expensive and Mom's fridge is always the cheapest meal in the world.

Gasoline for your car is like $5 a gallon. And every day off work costs about $80/day.

Go to the place closest to your house with an aircraft and negoitate with them and say," I will pay $xx for xxx amount of flying. I want to fly at night" and do it near your home. Or see if you can get some block time off of an older pilot with an aircraft who doesn't fly much and take him to Florida and back for a weekend. OR SOMEPLACE. If you live at home and there is an airplane there that you can use, why drive across the province Wherever you are in Canada as you did not specify to save $400 or something like that. What you save in price you will pay in gas, wear and tear on your car, meals, accomodation, and long distance phones calls. Its great to be adventurous, but if your going to spend money anyway spend it on the 40 hours you need not all the stuff to get to the airplane.

Just a suggestion. WHope it makes you go HMMM !!!! Lots of airplanes around.

Ya I don't mind going anywhere in Canada as I get flight passes with various company's and the closest place to rent around my city is over a 300 km drive so I would be paying for a hotel anyways but I think I found a place that is cheaper then what I posted and on a 172 compared to a 152 and will even get accodomitaions for me, so I get a better plane to rent, accodomitaions and it's also cheaper in then above said price for total package

no plane here but they are all over the place.

A guy near me does have a homebuilt 3/4 scale J3 Cub for sale for $12,500 with a set of skies available. I know the guy and have never been in or flown the plane but it has a VW engine in it and burns about 4 gallons of fuel an hours. I sent an email to my buddy with the info about the plane.

If it may be someting that you are interested in, send me an eail and I will forward to you what I sent to him. I had a homebuilt before and I liked it alot. And If I had $12,500 that I did not need I would buy it myself. I just spent $8,000 renewing my Multi IFR so I could get my ATPL back and I am looking for a Corporate Job out of the North End at YYZ.

But you could fly it probably for gas money for your 40 hours and sell it for what you paid for it. Then your only out gas money and it will burn Reg Unleaded Fuel.
