No injuries.

Yep- "Trans States" (aka Waterski).
It is amazing that an airline of that size (only about 25-30 airplanes) spends so much of it's time hauling their airplanes out of the grass.

One of 2 possibilities:

1) Crew inexperience (and all that goes with it: fatigue/aircraft capabilities/personal capabilities etc...)
or
2) That airplane model has some stopping problems.

At any rate, the United/Continental BOD should be so proud to have such a stellar CPA carrier flying around their passengers with such an impeccable safety record. I hope they got a deal

They have a few models that don't have reverse...hence the lack of stop-ability on occasion like these two experienced in Ottawa over the past year or so. First one was repaired by grafting a new nose onto it while the second one was written off and eventually cut up.

does the ERJ have reverse thrust? perhaps that is why they also tend to go off contaminated runways more often

edit: well that answers my question perhaps the extra weight of reverse thrust will pay for itself quickly by not sending planes off the end of runways

An American Eagle pilot that I talked to told me that their ERJ's don't have reverse. Every time I've flown on an ERJ I couldn't hear any reverse and felt hard braking. It's probably a hard aircraft to stop for a low time pilot?

Reverse isn't that important. Most carriers encourage idle reverse for fuel savings (Beta for props).

Spoilers, however, can be a game changer.
