Just wanted to send out a humble thanks to everyone on avcanada, all the top posters and all the great people here posting and the not so great. Wanted to tell you all that I got my first job and not paying for my check and proud of it. I got a great gig as a low timer & I will be starting out at the bottom of the scale. I am happy for myself and proud of where I will work. I am ready to open my ears wide open, will shut up and listen and I will ask my questions when uncertain.

IMHO paying for a check is not the way to go and I discourage anyone to ever do it. Even after this gig and later on, I will strive to offer my services as a pilot to companies that deserve me and are willing to hire me for my experience and in exchange I will offer them loyalty, quality and a safe work ethich. I worked my back off to get that job, to get my training done, did my homework. I know it's an exhausted topic and it's been discussed over and over, but the minute we stop talking about paying for checks that's the minute new students are gonna start accepting it.

My adventure is just about to start and I just can't wait.

Cheers to you all... and long live aviation.

Glad to hear it. Enjoy the year, and try to post the occasional pic. We'll be looking forward to hearing how it goes for you.

Way to go Mate! Congrats on the first gig! I'll second JCs sentiments.. Post a pic or two every now and again. I love seeing what everyone else is up to. Such incredible diversity here in aviation. From Whirley birds, to corp, to ag and everything in between.. even seeing some of you airliner and commuter guys shots makes me smile.

Congratulations! It is such a great feeling to get our 1st job actually being paid to fly!
It sounds like you have your head screwed on right. Fly safe, dont push your own PERSONAL limits, and follow the regs...you`ll have a blast!

All the best...and as has been said, stop and smell the roses along the way.

My ONLY regret is not having a cam/video cam with me when I spent times in the most isolated and beautiful places on earth. Enjoy the ride my friend :supz: :supz:

Fly safe as always.

Big thanks to all of you. I will make sure to take pictures and post the occasional picture here. I have been carrying the digital with me from the start of my training, trying to get every precious moment on flash. I'm glad to see all of the positive replies. There will be a lot to work on, and I'm in no rush to become captain, instead learn as much as I can till I get there. Cheers to you all!

Enjoy the journey fella. I still reflect on mine! One thing I do wish I did though. Carry a journal and write down every crazy story. Would make for a hell of a book!

Cheers mate :drinkers:

Carry a camera as well.... I carried one years ago with Bearskin, when you tell stories about how short the tress are, and faces of people you flew with, but years later it is great to sit back and look at the pictures and relive it again. Glad I did.

Oh yeah Scan all of those shitty paychecks and put them in the scrap book.

Good Luck

Hi. I've got 250 hours total time. Normal training curriculum. Nothing special. Just my attitude and the fact that I showed up in person. My boss told me today that it's what made the BIGGEST difference compared to other candidates who didn't even bother to place a phone call...

In my opinion it's all about people skills because the person who gets your resume is human and relies on human contact. Yes to sending resumes by e-mail or faxing them... however.. in my case.. following up sealed the deal. Lesson learnt!

As a matter of fact, I'll take you up on that one. I've been carrying a journal eversince I started my training. I try to catch on tape the occasional cool thing I do and never leave without my digital (in this case.. nowadays it may not be the best... but my phone does the job pretty well). Who knows what crazy stories are waiting ahead... !

Will do that with the shitty paychecks. I'm planning on living in a tent for the summer, we'll see maybe luxury will show up when the cold will start to settle in, maybe move to a basement room for 250$ a month.... and take it from there.
