Any info on pay, work schedule, work environment? Do they provide housing at their bases?

From what I hear, you need 200 TT and 10 ME for the 337's. Pay is 300$ a day. You get to stay at the Holiday Inn Express and you fly 7 on and 3 off. The hookers are cheap in YHD. Ugly too! Hell man, I have no clue.

I don't know Bear, I think he wants info on the new Boeing operation? First Boeing gets here in May, followed by six more in the fall. Personally, I think a 707 is a bit large for hauling around fire crews, but folks wiser than me are in charge? If you haven't heard a rumour by noon, start one!

Are they hard and fast regarding the 1000 TT, 100 multi-PIC, for the 337's?

I have 4000 SE PIC, 2000 turbine, but only minimal multi-PIC time.

That is how insurance companies work. It does not have to make sense but all the numbers must be recorded somewhere and they make the rules.

I have been driving off and on for a long time, dump truck, picker truck, regular deck... I once drove a diesel fuel truck through the Rocky Mountains but since I did not have a "valid" way to prove 3 years commercial experience when I bought a truck, my commercial insurance went from $3000 quoted to over 7.

If I was hiring someone other than myself they need to provide me with 3 years "documented commercial" driving experience or same thing. I can only imagine airplane insurance being worse.

'Course that could go back to an insurance requirement for the government's policy..

Either way, you'd think there could be some latitude given to companies to hire people on a case-by-case basis.

I don't know which is more difficult, Government regulations or insurance but... they're both spectacular at making business life interesting. I'll spare you the registration stories today.

I was simply trying to get an answer about how strict the 100 multi-PIC request was, and in one post, you said, "What he said" regarding Brown bear saying 200 TT, 10 multi-PIC, $300/day pay, and then in your following post, you state that pay was $600/week, accommodation included. (Kind of confusing contradicting info?)

That's why I said you weren't making it easy on a guy who's just trying to get some straight answers.

Anyways, I didn't join this forum to argue, I was just hoping for some insight.

In the end, I phoned the fine folks in Dryden and spoke with the powers that be. The 100 multi-PIC is a customer requirement, but they are able to petition the customer on a case by case basis, and there might be some leeway for say, a bush pilot with 4000 PIC.

So there you go, if anyone else is in my shoes and is curious how strict the 100 multi-PIC requirement is, there is possibly some wiggle room depending on your experience.

I know for a fact that "wiggle room" to the MNR is having 98 hrs MPIC at start of employment. MIFR is 500 MPIC which they will only budge 10hrs on this case by case basis. If you are ever carrying an MNR employee consider yourself lucky to be flying one of the most valuable lives in Canada, dontcha know they're big deals. :lol:
