Re: Identify This Aircraft
**I THINK** that's the Chinese Harbin Y-11B (the regular -11 had radials). The turbine version, the Y-12 Panda, was the variant almost produced in Canada.imarai wrote:Nice model! I love BCATP stuff. Here is a bit of a mystery:
Re: Identify This Aircraft
The blue and cream beauty is a Fairchild 24R.
Look carefully before you answer this one:

Re: Identify This Aircraft
linecrew: sorry, not the Harbin Y-11B. Think laid-off Boeing Canada engineers go to Renton, 1970s.
ehbuddy Thought your hull might be a Transall C-160, or perhaps a CASA C.212, but now I think it is the one-off prototype Air Metal AM-C 111.

Re: Identify This Aircraft
Correct. It's actually (or was, rather) a Canadair CT-133 that was built in Montreal and served with the RCAF before going to private hands.Moose47 wrote:G'day

"Since we're on T-33's...."
Oh but we aren't here. This is a Lockheed F-80C Shooting Star, U.S.A.F. s/n 49-429 (Block 10 Production aircraft built by the parent company at Burbank, California).
The aircraft was photographed in Alaska during ski trials.
49-429 crashed 10 miles north-west of Willow, Alaska on the 24th of May, 1950 while being flown by Nolan. R. Dotz.
Cheers...Chris

Re: Identify This Aircraft
Siddley Hawker is correct. The Fairchild 45-80 Sekani. The unsuccessful aircraft was featured on a JELLO aircraft coin and a Canadian postage stamp.

Re: Identify This Aircraft
It's a Canadian Vickers Velos.
I just read it has been selected to replace the CC-115 Buffalo in the SAR role.
Cheers...Chris

Yes, Chris, you are correct. Well done. Please post a challenge photo.

I had a fantastic opportunity yesterday to do a little aircraft to aircraft photography, I'll throw this shot up for the guessing, Don't cheat and use the registry! Shot it yesterday from the back of a Baron
