NTA accident at CYCP
I am glad no one was hurt. Does anybody know the runway conditions at the time?

Re: NTA accident at CYCP
I was in YKA at the time. Wx, as above, was crap. One NT 1900 landed there, I'm guessing electing not to go to YCP.
Good that no one was hurt.

Re: NTA accident at CYCP
Some more information would be helpful. We typically fly into Valemount just north of Blue River and this airport is sometimes the alternate if we can't avoid it.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: NTA accident at CYCP
Good to know that windrows might be a bit too high this time of year for a Beech. Glad no one was hurt.
UPDATE from TSB: A12P0034: The Northern Thunderbird Air B1900C, C-GCMZ (ser# UC-61), landed on the snow covered airstrip at CYCP Blue River,BC, which had plowed furrows along both sides of the runway. The aircraft contacted the deep snow on the side of the runway with the left main gear, and then veered into the snowbank. The aircraft was substantially damaged, there were no injuries.

Re: NTA accident at CYCP
I heard that the RSC wasnt exactly the best, and that the 1900 crew had tried to avoid some "potholes" that have been forming , which is what caused them to catch the windrows/slush and creating the event that occurred.
If you use CYCP as an alternate, you may want to have a company rep do a field inspection prior to commencing ops.. I know of a few carriers that are doing just that for next year.
