ILS in CYSB (Sudbury) down until May 31 ?!?

Down for a month and a half.....what does even mean?!

I can understand a GAP store down for full renovations but...YSB is apparently the "Gateway to the 'north' " AND it's springtime which equals fog... and YSB is FAMOUS for fog to begin with...but ILS down for a month and 1/2? really?...REALLY?!
Anyone know the skinny on why? Where would my company send the bill for lost revenue on those days we can't get in for the next month and 1/2?

Side note: Just down the road in CYYB the NDB has been notam'd offline for the last 2-3 years...DAMN YOU HARPER!!!!

Not saying this is the case .... but usually when they are down for that long they are being replaced with a new unit. I 've seen it happen before. and now most new ILS units do not have a Back Course. Happened in Sault Ste. Marie a few years ago. ILS upgraded and no more Back Course.

Don't have a CAP handy. Don't they have a GPS with pretty much the same limits? If there's both, I never bother to tune in the ILS anymore. If I need the extra 50 feet, I'll head it off to someplace with a KEG!

We do have a Keg in YSB . We keep it classy up (or down) here!

Same thing in Timmins last year. They replaced the unit. I've heard that they will no longer be including the back course approach on these anymore either. We now have only an ILS, but as of the April 5 plates we have 4 RNAV approaches in Timmins now.
