Re: Dear Mods
+2...
Doc...I was gonna post the exact same question when I came on this morning.
As I recall, the last report was the water cooler would be closed for 3 weeks over the holidays?
Is the water cooler a goner? I certainly hope not!

Re: Dear Mods
Would it be ok to set up one of those free forums or something and link to it for all the things the water cooler could have, then it wouldn't soil this one?

Re: Dear Mods
Dear Doc,
Dunno about them other mods, but I am still on my southern 'vacation'.
So, I guess the appropriate answer would be:
"Falcon 106", for those that prefer not to swear over the radio.
Thanks for asking,
JC

Re: Dear Mods
http://www.forumotion.com/ It wouldn't be as good or stable as here but it would just be for chatter and posting about the Balloon that carried the lego guy to space or whatever.
Re: Dear Mods
And, how goes your "vacation" there in the sunny south? Look forward to more photos on facebook....stay safe and warm! Doc's orders.
Re: Dear Mods
We just need a forum right here, where you and I can hike up our Sans-a-Belts, enjoy a good double malt, and bitch and moan about stuff.....Beefitarian wrote:Would it be ok to set up one of those free forums or something and link to it for all the things the water cooler could have, then it wouldn't soil this one?

Re: Dear Mods
If the 'Water Cooler' sub-forum has gone, three cheers for that decision.
I don't think whether it is politically correct or not has anything to do with why that sub-forum should be gone - the issue is the signal-to-noise ratio. This forum is a Canadian Aviation forum. When a forum member visits and clicks on the 'view new posts' shortcut, all the crap from the Water Cooler shows up in the list.
There are thousands of other places on the internet to yak about politics, post cute videos, tell jokes, etc. - this ain't the place.
Think of it this way: How would you like it if you opened up next month's issue of Business and Commercial Aviation and found that instead of being solid aviation content, the magazine now had a recipe section, articles about pet care, movie reviews, and a story about how to prepare your garden for planting next spring? There is nothing wrong with any of those topics, except that they are all way 'off topic' and don't belong in an aviation publication. This forum is the electronic version of an aviation publication.

Re: Dear Mods
So I am assuming if the idea of getting the water cooler back got axed then my idea for the forum where everyone can post except beefitarian went down like a nun's knickers.

Re: Dear Mods
Right. Next thing you know the largest aviation forum on the internet will open something called Jet Blast. Or like the old joke, you can screw in any position you please except standing up. That might lead to dancing.Think of it this way: How would you like it if you opened up next month's issue of Business and Commercial Aviation and found that instead of being solid aviation content, the magazine now had a recipe section, articles about pet care, movie reviews, and a story about how to prepare your garden for planting next spring? Re: Dear Mods
Hi folks
It is a different place, that's for sure. Can't say that I miss it. Crap aside, it was a place to hang out with guys that shared a passion and didn't want the discussion to be solely on aviation. My face to face experieince has seen me enjoy sharing the passion, but also getting to know people outside of their aviation side. There are a lot of people I have met here and had fun with. The fun happened in the water cooler.
I still surf some of the forums. But when I leave the office, I don't talk shop all the time. Avcanada has now become the office and I have to go elsewhere when I leave the office. I have been invited to another site and might just go there as well. Tooooo busy with work and travel to do it.
I still like Avcanada a whole lot. I continue to learn from all of you.

And Jet Blast never killed PPrune.
I think they are just doing more "banning" there, when things tend to go South. More banning instead of shutting it down and punish everybody.
