Not too bad from what I've seen out there (regarding wages). It's a seasonal job, I'm thinking it will likely attract students.

The local Costco starts at $12.25/hr McDonald's, 7-11, Tim's all start at around $10-11/hr in the job market out here they might have a tough time filling the position at the lower end of the price rage.

They are probably looking for someone who can count. Ag flying in the summer is very, very long hours. At $20 an hour the ground guy is probably going to make more than the pilot when the overtime gets counted up.

WJ733 wrote:$15-20 an hour...the reason why you would probably be making more money than the pilot is because you will be exposed to the nasty chemicals that can cause cancer while you load the aircraft etc. I would not take a job like that to be honest.
While the chemicals could give you the dreaded cancer there are procedures and equipment to minimize your exposure to the chemicals. Not like 20yrs ago when you just dumped a jug in and got splashed.

Depending on the weather and winds. Aerial application can, for the most part, be applied in the calm of the morning before the convection sets in or the winds pick up or in the evening. Sometimes it is a hurry up and wait.

Theyre ag's, they dont have to pay overtime. Regardless sounds like a good opportunity, and a good way to spend the summer. BTW Lethbridge has a university and a community college and swells with about 20 000 college girls during the school season. You'll never be bored.

You think AG pilots fly for the low wages? Down the road at Taber over $100,000 for the season.
wouldn't think they pay the driver/swamper that.

Ag. flying used to pay top dollar and is the best type of flying I ever did, most of it was off airport sometimes the strip was no wider than tractor wheels.

For sure it will make you a far better pilot.

For every job in Alberta that pays $1200 net per week there are a couple hundred others taking advantage of people that mistakenly think they are getting one of the good jobs. Companies banking those hours that you worked overtime, then paying them out at straight time when it's raining. Just because it's against the law means nothing. Most of the young guys don't know enough to keep track of their time and report it to the labour board.
