Talked to some instructors the other day and they told me they are still doing sim evals and we are still short of FOs, despite the loss of TC.

Most of the time the offer call comes about a month before the class start date, from reports I've heard. Mine was a bit closer than that, but was still almost 3 weeks ahead. Six weeks had passed before that (between the medical/criminal check and the offer call).

sounds like the last one for the summer will be at the end of May....then wait and see game until summer bid in August.

Don't worry. When WJR starts hiring Jazz will need lots of new pilots to cover attrition.

I talked to an HR girl today and she said that they will be doing more interviews in June but there is no plan for any ground schools in the near future. They are just building up a pool of candidates.

Question: is there a requirement to grant base changes, as per the standing bid, before offering ground school candidates their choice of bases? Or is it not looked at until the equipment bid rolls by?

Current pilots have priority over new groundschools. Prior to revealing to the new hires what is available, they "offer" those positions to the current pilots. If the current pilot is based in YYZ and they want YYC, they will be awarded this before it is offered to the new hires.

Seriously ? Even the company doesn't EXACTLY know were they will need extra pilots until few hours before the bid comes out. Why ? Somebody could just quit for greener pastures, STD or LTD BTW and the musical chair game starts from there. You will never know the outcome until EVERY pilot on the seniority list made their choice. From that point, YOU will have the choice to choose from the leftovers and even there, it depends which number you picked in the hat: you could be the last or the first one to pick your personal choice ( or anything in between).

Soooooo, just don't sweat it :rolleyes: You don't have ANY control on the process ( and control, as you should know by now, is only a matter of perception...)
