I guess OPP officers are now doubling as TSB investigators?
That's great that they were able to investigate & clear the scene!
Nice that they advised Transport too.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, (TSB), and/or Transport Canada most likely advised the local police to clear the scene after hearing the OPP assessment of the incident, and talking to the pilot and any witnesses. Generally, for a private, (non-commercial) registered aircraft, if there are no serious injuries, fatalities, suspected impairment of the pilot, possible criminal activity, or violations of Air Regulations, there is little need for a forensic analysis of the crash site.

You can probably get the media to print anything if you present it as an expert and throw some fancy words in ...

"The runway gyrostabilization system had a vacuum source failure causing it to lose vertical reference and tumble just prior to the aircraft touching down. The pilot had no time to react when the tarmac rolled inverted"

I once told a reporter that my chromed centerline cracked because of hydrogen embrittlement, but they didn't print it. Pearls to the swine, alas.

That might be because everyone knows that chromed centerline cracks are caused by inclusions (voids if you will) that are created during the casting process.

The next time I want to smugly roll my eyes about the "media" and aviation coverage, I will remember that the "media" exposed the Ornge scandal.....once in a blue moon, the "media" gets it right.

Alpha- I can only assume by your posts that you have some kind of personal connection with the media.
I agree that they (journalists) have proven useful on several occasions such as Mr. Donovan's ORNGE reporting, and Miles O'Brien's Frontline reports- indeed there are many.

However, when it comes to blatantly simple, technically-correct reporting, there are excessive errors that any journalist worth their title could easily figure out. I think in today's competitive age, journalists (like many professionals) are more concerned with speed than accuracy.

A fine example was a recent CNN article which was explaining that Colgan Air operates a fleet of regional jets.
That was basic, sloppy journalism, and it seems to be acceptable, even at the major outlets (just one of many).
For every fact that is accurately reported, I bet I could find five inaccuracies.

Well I'm off to shoot a CAT3 to minimums. Hopefully I get my facts straight... at least the basics.
