Next Position
So it seems all new hires will either be placed as EMJ FO or RP (767/330/777).. What may you bid for next .. Could EMJ FO bid for EMB Capt? RP bid for FO?

You can bid it... The highest position you may be able to hold as a new guy is A320 FO.

The saying is don't bid what you don't want because you may get it. Union says new hires have to be hired into the position group (EMJ or rp). Sometimes they allow new hires to bid onto the bus etc. But once our initial bid is complete in the pit course you can bid up to whatever you want. So if EMJ captain was available you can bid it and hold it. Back when they first got the EMJ guys were hired directly into EMJ ca spot. So if in theory if a 777 captain spot opens and your number can hold it then it's yours providing you pass the command upgrade.

So in theory are you saying that a fresh new AC pilot just starting out on day one can be an EMJ Captain? I always thought it took many years to get a LHS position.

IF..... the position is available AND IF.... nobody ahead of them bids it AND IF .......... they show up carrying a flight bag full of horse-shoes!
Usually many years before a LHS.
