Post by Stefan »

Just curious if anyone has any helpful advice on companys that may be looking for a newly out of school Aircraft Structures Technician. I've been handing out resumes for weeks now to the major places and some I have looked into online but cant seam to get a response from anywhere. Any advice is helpful and if anyone currently looking or hireing for a position like this reads this post heres a link to my cover letter and resume that I have posted on this forum for your convenience.

Alpine Aerotech just posted an ad, try them. And Cascade is usually looking too.

You might have a tough time finding work in structures since Aveos shut down. About 100 experienced structures guys lost their jobs in Vancouver and are also out there looking for work. Also a few hundred more in Winnipeg and Montreal. Although most of them are probably trying to get out of aircraft maintenance and into something more stable.

You also might want to fix this sentence in your cover letter:

"I love working on aircrafts and look forward to learning more about fixing them and the repair process’s while developing my skills."

"aircrafts" should just read aircraft and "process's" is spelled processes. Spelling and grammar are very important on a resume!

And saying you are willing to relocate "as long as the company seems stable enough for me to do so" isn't going to impress a potential employer. I would take that statement out.

Good Luck. Personally I think you would have a better career if you just stuck with your plumbing.

@helicopterray
Thank you for informing me of that new posting and as for cascade they dont seam to be currently looking but I put in a general application a few weeks ago just incase.

@cat19
Ya it seams like its going to be hard to find a job doing this which is unfortunate seeing how much I enjoy it but hopefully something will pop up in the near future. Thank you for the cover letter advice nice to get input from other people.
