2 dead after small plane crashes in B.C.'s Okanagan

VERNON, B.C. - Police say two people are dead after a small plane crashed onto a sports field in the Okanagan city of Vernon, B.C.
RCMP spokesman Greg Molendyk says he was near the site of the crash when it happened in the early afternoon.
He says he heard an explosion, looked over and saw the aircraft had burst into flames.
Molendyk says there were flames all along the ground right up to the aircraft.
Capt. Greg Clarke of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria says an emergency beacon went off around 1 p.m. and police were responding to reports of a crash near the city's airport.
Clarke identified the aircraft as a twin-engine Piper 23.

Really a sad summer for flying in the Okanagan. This is the second tragic crash so far this year let's hope it's the last.

i believe its the fourth 1 ultralight 1 beaver 1 hang glider and i piper all in the same area. Im beginning to think i should hang up my plane and hang glider in Vernon for an extra week so im not part of the jinx!!
