Re: Sad news- Jim Glass passed away
Very unfortunate news to suddenly lose someone so young. I was his instructor for his Private Licence and sent him solo in a Cessna 152, "C-GYBI" at the Prince Albert airport when it was new from the factory. His dad, Floyd Glass had bought it specifically for Jim to learn to fly.
Jim paid for it by washing cars, fuelling aircraft, sweeping up at the hangar, and doing "Go-Fer" jobs at Athabasca Airways.
Bye Jim. You accomplished a lot since I got out of the airplane beside the taxiway, gave you a quick briefing on how the airplane would feel and sent you around for a circuit.
Life moves in mysterious ways sometimes.

Re: Sad news- Jim Glass passed away
I remember meeting Jim and Floyd years ago when I was at Canadian. We were looking at ways to build interline traffic between the companies. If I remember correctly, and someone chime in, Floyd had mostly retired by then and was flying down to the Caribbean fairly often in his Cessna 310. Is that memory correct? Floyd told me of how he would add two new airplanes every year to the fleet. Both Floyd and Jim were really really nice people and it was a realy pleasure doing business with them.
Very sad day and I pass my condolences to family and friends.

Sad news. Never met Jim while I was with Transwest, but condolances to his family and friends.
On a side note- I flew in YBI for about 10 hours just a few months ago, it's now at Mitchinsons in Saskatoon. Interesting to hear the history of that plane, and I now feel privileged to have flown her.
RIP.
