Gatwick opens world’s largest air bridge

Post by Rebel »

Industry News:

Gatwick opens world’s largest air bridge. According to Airwise News, the largest passenger bridge in the world has been opened at London’s Gatwick Airport. The air bridge, which spans a taxiway, is high enough for a Boeing 747 to pass underneath and links the airport’s North Terminal with a passenger pier. The bridge is part of a GBP£110 million ($256 million Cdn) pier development at London's second airport and will be used by more than three million passengers each year. The bridge, at 197 metres long and 32 metres high, will transport passengers by walkway and travelator from departure lounge to aircraft.

Wow I have to wonder about the price over $250 million for a foot bridge? To me that seems like a lot of money, but then I don't build them.
