Once you get into the 704 world it is a little slow with the pay. It's like any job change, it is expected. Depending on your time, once you get your 4 stripes life gets a lot better. Good luck DHC

I hear Beaver Pilots are getting paid $300. a day now, that's a great improvement from a few short years ago.
Hopefully one day skilled Bush pilots will be Paid for what they're worth.

What, exactly, are they worth, though?
Doesn't it depend on supply and demand? If there were 200 unemployed 5000 hour Beaver drivers around in Canada, then I think that the employed ones would be getting a whole lot less than $300/day.

True, but there isn't a lot of them around anymore and $300 a day ain't a lot of cash anymore either seen a Beaver charters for $800-plus per hour flight time in most areas of Canada.

-3T gig wheels summer wheel/skis winter, based in arctic, 3 weeks in/3 weeks out. transportation to/from, meals, lodging and expenses paid 350/day base, .35/mile, 15-20k miles a month.

Jeez maybe I should get back in to the bush! Been out for two seasons now. The airline stuff is exactly a job change. It's totally different (a little snoring) and the pay-scale starts over. There are perks though that I haven't achieved yet and may hold out for more. For one; it's less stressful on my family since my wife works as well and her opportunities may not be found in BFN, two; I have a good laugh every time I get a week off in a month and two weeks off every third month and the weekends off, three; pay and benefits are are okay and could only get quite better, four; travel on airlines to places "discounted" is pretty cool, five; having a schedule much in advance and thus planning your life.

I will say I heavily miss catching walleye's and shooting birds in the fall. And well sliding a beaver in and out of spots a duck would pass over beats most every possible hard surface runway landing, but I guess you sort of do what you have to as time goes on. I will say, 10k a month on a -3T is appealing though... i should look into that.

They are tough to find but there are places that pay helicopteresque hourly wages, as in well north of 100 dollars per hour, but generally if you have to ask where they are, you aren't qualified to fly there :D
