Missed Connections..?

Post by Planefreak2186 »

Hello All,

HAs anyone ever recieved an upgrade due to a missed connection..?? We are flying with USAirways from KBUF in February, to AUA, with a 1 1/2 hr connection in CLT. There are 2 flights CLT-AUA this day, if we miss the first connecting flight, I could plead with the Agent & get an upgrade on the 2nd..??

Depends if there's room for you on the 2nd. There's nothing saying you can't try, worst that could happen is that you're told no. However, there may be others here who would have better insight to your question and steer you into a direction other than the agent that might give you better results.

You have to pay for an upgrade with all the major carriers here in the US.
Most passengers have the option to be added to the standby list when they check in.

Also if you bought you ticket through an internet website, you generally aren't eligible for the upgrade.

TRAVELOCITY... Not really a concern though, just thought it would be cool, as it is our 15th wedding anniversary...

A 1.5 hr connection is way too tight in my experience. I've missed my Hong Kong to Jakarta connection 2 trips in a row. Once due headwinds, once due to a monsoon. Another time I missed the connection due to a mechanical defect. Only once did I get a free upgrade class wise. Business class is almost always full up except down in Asia. Usually I fly business which isn't really that much different from 1st class.

These flights are 12 to 14 hours mind you.

Next time you book just get a longer connection time to accomodate these issues.

You might also want to read/post your question in the US Airways forum on FlyerTalk... lots of frequent flyers there that can assist.

ohhhh, sorry, I misunderstood the question. I thought you were looking at switching to the later flight because you were concerned you wouldn't make the connection on time. Not that you were looking for something for free.
