Fort Smith is a nice town. It's got a decent 9 hole golf course. Also, there was a trendy coffee bar/massage therapy joint there in years gone by. The liquor store beat anything else I have ever seen, with a gratuitous selection of delicious scotches, from all over Scotland...
There were 2 grocery stores. One was good. Also, a Chinese food restaurant in the hotel. 75 percent of the ladies have herpes or something, so bag it before you tag it.
NWAL is a great outfit to work for. The management were friendly and professional. I flew the bush side so we didn't mix that well with the Multi guys and girls. I think they were more normal than the rest of us. Also, great maintenance, although a couple of the mechanics probably drank jet fuel for entertainment.
The flying on the bush side was busy and long legs. I made it up to the north end of Hudson Bay once and had a contract in Northern Quebec when it slowed down in September.
Hope you get on

I had fun and managed not to catch herpes. I would imagine its a different world there now without TW as the Ops Manager. He was the voice of reason in a world of crazy.
The wait for a pilot spot was close to 2 years. Then you will have to sign a bond for another year. By the time you leave you will be married or engaged to a local and your outlook on life and aviation will be changed forever.
Good Luck

Re: Northwestern Air lease
There are better places to spend time on the ground and get your first flying job. I'd head up to Yellowknife if you are considering living up north. The pilots I worked with were the best kind of people and maintenance did a good job keeping the Jetstreams going. Overall the staff was great. Can't say I had the same experience with management. I'm with phillyfan, NWAL is probably missing TW. It's decent pay and lots of flying but are you really willing to sign a 2-year $20 000 bond? Good luck.

Re: Northwestern Air lease
is it really a 2 year wait on the ramp AND a 2 year, $20,000 bond???
