Re: Career Question
My advice... Its a great career... But only if you have the bug. If you are miserable not doing it then do it. Some advice on the path - don't discount any possibilities... Ive worked from instructing to the airlines... the most fun I had was in an Agplane or bumping around in a 185 - learn from those more experienced (even an idiot and an a**hole can teach you something) take the time to mentor those less experienced (they could end up as your boss someday). Have the guts to say no when you need to - there will come a time where this choice may cost you a job - doesn't matter, you will be able to sleep at nights and kiss your wife when you get home. Look after your family - none of us will hit 65 thinking "man I wish I had another 5000 hours in the logbook". Don't sweat the small stuff - if you've got airspeed and altitude or any combination thereof you have time to figure something out. The ability to work with people is nearly as important as technical competence. Be your own harsh critic - at the same time learn to forgive your self and finish the job. As an old check guy said when talking about mistakes on a ride. "Son, its like marrying a hooker - dwell not overlong on the past, rather look forward to the future with anticipation"
